Coleen Rooney told husband Wayne 'I can't carry on' as she opens up about marriage problems

Coleen Rooney told husband Wayne 'I can't carry on' as she opens up about marriage problems

Coleen Rooney will spill all the details on the first story that was leaked from her private Instagram account which was about her marriage.

Coleen Rooney is set to open up about her marriage problems in her new documentary, as she tells her husband Wayne ‘I just can’t carry on’.

The former TV personality, 37, stars in a three-part documentary which is set to debut on Disney+ this week.

It all started in 2019 when Coleen, who is married to former England player Wayne Rooney, performed a social media sting operation to get to the bottom of how private stories concerning herself and her family kept appearing in the media.

The documentary, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, examines the circumstances that led to Coleen’s infamous Instagram expose that broke the internet, in which she claimed Rebekah Vardy, who is married to Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, was the person behind the leaks.

Rebekah brought a libel case against her fellow WAG, which was heard in the High Court but she lost the battle.

She has always denied passing on the information to The Sun newspaper.

In July 2022, a judge declared that Coleen’s accusation was ‘substantially true’, while Rebekah said in a statement at the time that she was ‘extremely sad and disappointed’ by the decision.

Although it will focus mainly on Coleen’s 'Wagatha Christie' expose, it will also delve into her relationship with the former England national team footballer.

The problems in their marriage peaked in 2017, which led to Wayne apologising to not only his wife but also his in-laws too.

Coleen also said she was ‘heartbroken’ when he was photographed in a car with Laura Simpson after a night out.

The first news story that leaked from the Rooney household via Coleen’s private Instagram account was when she moved out of the family home to her parents’ house, which somehow made its way into The Sun newspaper, the same time Wayne was caught in the car with Laura.

"I was in the airport and I got a phone call and it was Wayne,” Coleen recalled. “I just said, ‘What's gone on?’ Straightaway you don't get much out of him. You don't get a lot of information. It was just sickening.

"I've had that feeling in my stomach a few times and I would never wish anyone to feel that.

"You do think, do I actually know this person, when things like that happen. "Y'know, 'You're not the person I married and the person I want you to be.'

"He just said, 'I'm sorry I'm sorry'. And I said, ‘Well, you can't be sorry because you know it's wrong what you've done' and I just kept saying you're stupid, you are just so stupid."

Coleen has been married to Wayne since 2008.

Wayne responded: "Of course she wasn't happy. But if I'm being honest, I can't even remember speaking to the girl in the bar, never met before in my life.

"So there was never any talk of anything happening or anything was gonna happen.

"You know, I'm driving another girl's car and she's in the passenger seat, it doesn't look great. I know what it was. But I also know what it looked like."

Coleen added: "I was just heartbroken. I just said I can't stay in the house and I went and stayed in my mum's with the children."

She posted about the ordeal at the time on her private Instagram, but this was leaked even though she deleted it a few hours later.

Coleen said: "I was a bit gutted because at this point the girl was giving her own story to the press. I actually phoned her up [Laura Simpson] and spoke to her on the phone, I just wanted to hear what she had to say.

"I didn't tell anyone I was going to call her. If I know someone can talk me out of something that I feel strongly about, that is when I tend to go silent and just do it.

"Me and Wayne were talking it all through. Wayne wanted it to all go back to normal but it wasn't as easy as that.

"I was still mad and I just didn't know what the future was for us as a couple. I said to him 'I just can't carry on with this'.

"I know Wayne as a person and I know his qualities and I know his downfalls. "Them moments where I think I don't know him, are when he's been drinking. And that's when he is a totally different person."
