Coleen Rooney broke down in tears before issuing a stark warning to her nemesis, Rebekah Vardy, in the trailer for her new documentary.

In just a few days’ time, we’ll be able to watch Coleen break down the jaw-dropping story behind the libel case brought against her by Rebekah, and the wild investigation she pulled off to expose her.

The three-part series will uncover one of the biggest tabloid news stories in Britain and the context behind the iconic ‘Wagatha Christie’ moniker. It all started in 2019 when Coleen, who is married to former England player Wayne Rooney, turned into an amateur sleuth by performing a social media sting operation to get to the bottom of how private stories concerning herself and her family kept appearing in the media.

The documentary examines the circumstances that led to Coleen’s famous Instagram post that broke the internet, in which she claimed Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, was the person behind the leaks.

Rebekah brought a libel case against her fellow WAG, which was heard in the High Court but she lost the battle. She has always denied passing on the information to The Sun newspaper. In July 2022 a judge declared that Coleen’s accusation was ‘substantially true’, while Rebekah said in a statement at the time that she was ‘extremely sad and disappointed’ by the decision.

The Wagatha Christie case, as it has come to be known, is one of the UK’s highest-profile defamation cases in recent years.

As well as the case itself, the documentary will explore how Coleen has had her life played out in public for the last 20 years, as we all know her as one of Britain’s most famous WAGs.

Judging by the trailer, the documentary will be just like all the gripping true crime documentaries we love to binge - and it will also be quite emotional.

The whole situation had quite the impact on Coleen, as seen in the promotional clip, as she recalls her dad telling her ‘you’re just not you anymore’.

The trailer ends with the savage warning: “Don’t play games with a girl who can play better.”

Wagatha Christie has already inspired a TV drama and a play in London’s West End.

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, premieres exclusively on Disney+ on 18th October 2023.
