Coleen Rooney admits to considering splitting from husband Wayne

Coleen Rooney has candidly opened up about marriage struggles with her husband Wayne in the couple’s new documentary.

The Wagatha Christie icon, 40, and former Manchester United footballer, also 40, have been married since 2008, having started dating when they were just 16 years old.

And now, they’ve let fans into their life behind closed doors in their new Disney+ series, The Real Rooneys, which dropped onto the streaming platform on Thursday (24 September).

They’ve got through some difficult times in their relationship and marriage, including reported cheating and partying scandals and drink-driving charges.

Without touching on any specific instances, reported by Metro, one scene saw Coleen angry over Wayne staying up all night with friends on a family holiday.

She told the camera: “There’s times where I think, is the answer to see what it’s like if we were separated?”

The mother-of-four then added: “But the we still care for each other, we still have good times. You know, we still love each other.”

At another tense point in the show, as reported by The Mirror, she told her hubby: “It’s been a bit of a lads holiday for you, staying up all night. You can’t just keep doing what you do. It is not fair of everyone else. It is only you that can fix it because no one else is doing it. I’m just hoping that things change.”

Speaking about the moment in an interview, the WAG told Metro: “It was a time where we weren’t in a good place” and Wayne interjected: “It was only a night out!”

Colleen responded: “See, it was one night out of many nights out'. I’ve come to a point where I just said, 'Come on Wayne, take some responsibility.”'He was doing my head in.”

Meanwhile, another occasion saw the duo sit down for a joint interview in the living room, while admitting they haven’t spoken in four days.

Coleen said at the show’s premiere: “Some days we wasn't talking, but because it was in the diary, I wasn't changing my date. So we were going, we were filming that day, talking or not.”

However, thankfully, it’s not all squabbles and drama, as the footballer told the publication: "We love each other. You have difficult moments in any marriage, and then you find a way of getting through those tough times. We’ve got four children, and it can be hectic, but I think it’s important that you find the time for each other.”

He added: “We’ve had ups and downs with everyone looking in on it. These days a lot of people are quick to make a decision, whereas we give things time to see whether we can work it out. We’re in a really happy place.”

The couple are parents to four sons - Kai, 16; Klay, 13; Kit, 10; and Cass, eight.

Coleen said in the show: “At heart, me and Wayne are just still a couple of kids from Liverpool.”

And revealing her reason for doing the show, she explained: “We live in this in this extraordinary world, but we are normal at the end of the day.

“We look back at the change in the kids in a year. They've grown up so much in a year, and some of that footage that we've captured, we wouldn't have got ourselves. So it's quite nice that we've got some of that to keep forever.”
