Nobody had Charli XCX and Peppa Pig starting the internet's weirdest celebrity feud on their 2026 bingo card, but here we are.
The unlikely drama kicked off after Peppa Pig, the beloved children's cartoon character, appeared in Pitchfork's Over/Under series, where she rated a handful of musicians.
While the four-year-old TV favourite had plenty of love for artists including PinkPantheress and The Beatles, things took a turn when she was asked about singer-songwriter Clairo.
Peppa simply replied: "I don't know her."
Fans were quick to spot the obvious reference to Mariah Carey's iconic response about Jennifer Lopez, and the clip soon took off online.
It didn't take long for Charli XCX to jump in to defend her longtime friend, Clairo, whose real name is Claire Elizabeth Cottrill.
Peppa Pig has found herself at the heart of a new internet feud against Charli XCX and Clairo (Netflix) After seeing a post about Peppa's comment, Charli texted Clairo: "Let's f*ck her up."
Clairo then shared a screenshot of the message on X, sending the internet into a right spiral as fans flooded the replies with bacon memes and jokes about the fictional pig.
Peppa, however, didn't seem to care and refused to get pulled into the chaos which ensued all over social media.
Responding to the viral exchange, her team told the Metro: "Peppa’s not one to comment on playground drama, although she has been spotted humming a few new tunes lately…"
Some fans took that as a playful hint that Peppa may have finally checked out Clairo's music after all.
The bizarre feud sent social media users into a right spiral (X/@clairo) "And that's why I will never delete social media," confessed one X user.
A second penned: "LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."
"I CAN'T BREATHE," joked a third as a fourth chimed in: "CHARLI IS SO FUNNY."
Another gushed: "
And a final X user echoed: "The concept of Charli XCX and Clairo jumping Peppa."
PinkPantheress, who Peppa had praised during the interview, also weighed in, commenting: "Ain’t sh*t sweet until you put respect on Clairo."
Clairo also appeared to enjoy the joke while it lasted, replying to posts about the viral saga before eventually putting an end to the madness.
"Ok that’s enoughhhhh lolllllllllll," wrote in a follow-up post on X after sharing her texts with Charli.
Despite accidentally becoming part of one of the internet's most unexpected feuds, Charli hasn't publicly addressed the exchange since her four-word text went viral.
Instead, she's been focusing on the release of her upcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film, which will be gracing our ears later this month (24 July).
