Ariana Grande made another unexpected change to the lyrics of her chart-topping song 'Thank U, Next', leaving fans wondering whether she has rekindled an old romance.
Fans attending the pop superstar's recent Eternal Sunshine Tour shows have noticed that Grande has been repeatedly switching up one particular lyric during the hit song.
Grande famously mentions several of her exes in the 2018 track, including dancer Ricky Alvarez. The original lyric we all know and love to sing along to is: "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh."
The first change to the Alvarez line came during her June 24 concert, when she sang: "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now they kinda slap."

Two days later, at her June 26 show in Austin, Texas, Grande changed the lyric again, singing: "Wrote some songs about Ricky / I know he still got my back." Alvarez was spotted in the audience, standing next to Grande's parents in the VIP section. She also changed the lyrics to reflect her rekindled relationship with her dad.

Around the same time, the pair were also seen together in Texas before the Austin show, although sources told TMZ they were just friends.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, Grande and Alvarez were then spotted celebrating in her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida during a break from her tour, further fuelling speculation about the current status of their relationship.

Most recently, while performing in New York City on July 13, Grande once again altered the lyric, singing: "Wrote some songs about Ricky / We always find our way back," prompting loud cheers from the crowd.
Is Grande dropping hints about her relationship status? Fans certainly seem to think so.
A clip of the new lyrics quickly picked up steam on TikTok before spreading across other social media platforms.
"I AM F—ING SCREAMING," an excited fan wrote in the comments on TikTok.

"She soft launched," a second fan gushed.
"Smooth… you go girl," a third wrote.
On Reddit, one fan commented: "This is the pop culture I yearn for."
The Wicked star is newly single after reportedly splitting from Ethan Slater, whom she met while filming the movie adaptation, in which she played Glinda and he portrayed Boq.
A source told PEOPLE in a report published Monday (8 June) that the pair called it quits after nearly three years of dating.
"It’s amicable; they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways," the source told the outlet. "They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months."
