Ariana Grande breaks silence about ‘stepping back’ from spotlight

Ariana Grande has now broken her silence about 'stepping back' from the spotlight after wrapping up her Eternal Sunshine tour next month.

Her team confirmed she'll also no longer appear in the upcoming London revival of Sunday in the Park with George alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey next year, with a representative for the 33-year-old singer telling PEOPLE: "Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.

"She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.

"This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much."

The representative added: "She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night."

Grande's final show is scheduled for the start of next month (1 September) in London, bringing her world tour to a close.

On Monday (3 August), Grande returned to the stage for the latest stop of her tour at the United Center in Chicago.

During her performance, the 'Thank U, Next' star addressed the adoring crowd with a written speech.

"The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan," Grande said, adding that she made the plan 'quietly, a long time ago'.

She later told fans that it was not true that 'negativity' was 'ruining things for me'.

"No matter what noises exist out there, nothing will be able to distort my reality or be more real to me or not as real to me as this love that we share," she told her fans.

Rounding off the speech, Grande said her Eternal Sunshine Tour was 'one of the most healing, beautiful, correct and special experiences' of her life.

"That felt good," she resolved before resuming the show. "I wish that words were enough to articulate how much I love you."

Ahead of the show, the actress took to Instagram to share her excitement, writing: "See you tonight, my sweethearts!!! I cannot wait and love you so."
