Adam Ramsay-Peaty’s mum shared a cryptic social media message and issued a statement following his emotional Commonwealth Games interview.
The 31-year-old English swimmer broke down in tears after winning bronze in the men’s 100 metre breaststroke final on Saturday (25 July).
Alluding to his ongoing reported estrangement from his parents, he said: “It’s hard because I know how hard I work. I know the s*** I’ve been through, which is no fault of my own, but it does take its toll.”
The family feud rumours began in December when the Olympian tied the knot with his now-wife, Holly Ramsay, the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay, with the pair currently expecting their first child together.

Neither of Adam’s parents were present for his big day, with reports suggesting that the fallout began when his mum Caroline was excluded from the hen party.
As reported by Metro, following the athlete’s tearful Commonwealth Games interview, Caroline took to Instagram to share a quote.

She reportedly shared a black and white photo of Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders, alongside the words: “I forgive people but that doesn’t mean I accept their behaviour or trust them. I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life.”
Then, as per The Mirror, she shared a statement on the matter, writing: “We continue to support Adam from afar. He’s our son who we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations.
“Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation of financial reward just genuinely given with the love as any mother and father would do for their child.”
It continued: “We are strong, we love and are always there for each other. The very nature of our strength as a family has helped us move past the nastiness, the lies that have been told about us.”
It came after the emotional post-race interview, in which Adam said he wasn’t crying because ‘it’s bronze instead of gold’ but because he knows he’s ‘better than that’.
He told journalists: “I feel like I couldn’t have put any more in and that’s where it hurts, because I’m like, what’s the point of all the metres every day, what’s the point of being exhausted all the time?
“What’s the point of having to say no to family events because you can’t go to training? It has to mean something, and for me it has to be human excellence, and that is not excellence for me. So that’s the emotion that is unfortunately coming out.”

In November 2025, Caroline told the Daily Mail that she felt him ‘pulling him away from her’ and stated that she knows ‘it’s the end’.
She told the publication: "I know it's the end. But please, the message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.
“There's nothing you've done that I would not forgive. I love you so much.”
She added: “I hope your marriage is a good one, I don't wish any ill on you, and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage, like your dad and me. The reason I'm speaking out is I want all this to end.”
Tyla has contacted a representative for Adam for comment.
