True crime documentary Why Did You Kill Me? only dropped on Wednesday, but Netflix viewers have already taken to one of its stars and they cannot stop talking about her.

The crime TV show tells the story of 24-year-old mum of two, Crystal Theobold, who was shot dead in California in 2006, when she became tangled up in a gang retaliation.

It follows Crystal's family, including mum Belinda Lane, who fought for answers as to why her daughter was killed, by using social media to track down Crystal's killers.

And now fans have taken to Twitter to commend Belinda's courage, calling her a "badass" and a "savage".

"Watching #WhyDidYouKillMe on Netflix and Belinda - I love you," said one.

"Belinda!!! Catfishing on MySpace with a vengeance story," said another.

While a third wrote: "Belinda in why did you kill me is such a bad ass lol she's awesome."

Another fan called out Belinda's courage in catching her daughter's killers: "Watching #WhyDidYouKillMe on @netflix and yoooo this mom - Belinda - is a savage. Legit Mad Maxing."

Others, meanwhile, were rooting for former drug addict Belinda, who had turned her life around after Crystal's murder.

"Was NOT expecting that from Belinda at the end. Glad she turned it around and found herself," they wrote.

And another called for a documentary to be made about Belinda herself, who now runs a Facebook page to share information and help others get justice for unsolved crimes.

"Hey @netflix if you're not already making a documentary about the life of the Mom from "Why Did You Kill Me" you are doing your viewers a disservice."

We couldn't agree more.

Why Did You Kill Me? followed Crystal's friends and family, as they set up a fake MySpace profile to catch her killers.

Calling themselves Angel, they were able to track down who was responsible for the crime, and in 2016, Belinda found the final piece of the puzzle when she helped police capture the last gang member to be brought to justice.

The show's description reads: "The line between justice and revenge blurs when a devastated family uses social media to track down the people who killed 24-year-old Crystal Theobald."

Why Did You Kill Me? is streaming on Netflix now.
