The BBC confirmed that the second instalment of the femme fatale series will be available to watch on their iPlayer from next month, although the broadcaster is yet to announce when it will air on TV.

Season two premiered in the US on April 7 and was shown on Ireland's RTÉ2 on 10th April.

The second series will pick up exactly 36 seconds on from the dramatic closing scene of season one, in which MI5 officer Eve Polastri stabbed Villanelle, who then mysteriously disappeared.

In March, the BBC released an action-packed minute-long trailer for the upcoming series which hinted at the aftermath of the shocking scene.

However, one memorable scene from the preview showed an Instagrammer approaching Villanelle, snappily dressed in one of her trademark millennial pink looks.

But as we might expect of the unlikely heroine, she quickly turned down a photo opportunity, barking at the blogger's photo request: "Of course not. Get a real life!"

Part of Killing Eve's appeal is down to Jodie Comer's incredible portrayal of psychopathic assassin Villanelle, and the Liverpudlian's performance was noticed by BAFTA on Sunday night when she accepted the 'Best Leading Actress' award.

After taking to the stage to accept the prestigious award, Jodie dedicated her acceptance speech to her late 'Nana Frances', and broke down in tears while thanking her co-stars and Killing Eve writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Accepting her award from Steve Coogan, she said: "Thank you so much, BAFTA. Sorry, I'm the only one who's turned on the waterworks."

She continued: "Pheeb, I feel so lucky not only to say that I have worked with you, but to call you a friend. You are the most talented person I know. Thank you for being such an inspiration."

Jodie also thanked Line Of Duty star Stephen Graham for helping her in the early days of her acting career.

"I want to take this moment to thank Stephen Graham. Stephen, if I didn't owe you a pint before, I definitely do now. Thank you for the generosity you showed me all them years ago," the BAFTA-winning actress added.

And after mentioning her family, Jodie paid tribute to her late grandmother, who passed away while she was working on Killing Eve, meaning she never watched the hit drama series.

It wasn't only Jodie who came away with an honour as her co-star Fiona Shaw picked up 'Best Supporting Actress' while the show itself won 'Best Drama Series'.
