One episode, airing on Friday 30th October, will look at the horrific crimes of Levi Bellfield.

On 21 March 2002, 13-year-old English schoolgirl Milly Dowler was reported missing after failing to return home from school. She was last seen walking down the street by her sister's friend, but she was unable to be located by CCTV further down the road.

What followed was a national manhunt for Milly's abductor, however her body was found six months later in Yateley Heath Woods.

In February 2008, police confirmed Levi Bellfield had become their prime suspect. Bellfield was already serving life in prison for the murder and attempted murders of three women.

Bellfield was described as a charming 'Jack the Lad', who had friends, a successful business, countless girlfriends, and almost a dozen children. However, he'd prowl the streets, targeting young girls at bus stops to abduct, rape, and kill them.

"For years police suspected Levi Bellfield of crimes including sexual assault, GBH, abduction and drug rape. There was never enough evidence to charge him," says the channel.

"Then they began connecting him with the murders of young blonde women, and faced a race against time to get him off the streets for good."

Other serial killers profiled in the series will include Lewis Daynes, Vincent Tabak, Peter Morgan and Sabrina Kouider.

The five-part series Killer Britain with Dermot Murnaghan premieres on Crime+Investigation with the first episode airing on Monday 26th October at 9pm.

This sounds like an altogether chilling watch.
