After numerous reports over the past year, Disney has finally confirmed that Hocus Pocus 2 will debut on Disney+. It's time to get excited!

Fans of the Halloween film rejoiced after Disney confirmed at their annual Investor Day presentation that the long-awaited sequel is part of their upcoming line-up for their streaming service.

Adam Shankman, the director behind the incredible 2007 Hairspray film adaptation, will direct the sequel. All three Sanderson sisters will return for a new, spooky adventure.

Hocus Pocus star and award-winning actress Bette Midler spoke to People about the sequel last month, revealing that she now knows the story and is very excited. "They presented us with an outline, and after we picked ourselves up off the floor, because it's been 27 years, we looked at it and I think all of us agreed that it was pretty great."

While Midler has confirmed she's set to return as Winnie Sanderson alongside her on-screen sisters, Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) and Kathy Najimy (Mary), she added they're also keen to bring back some of the crew, too during the interview.

No further details regarding the plot for the plot for the sequel were announced however, the first film sees three witches, the Sanderson sisters, executed in 1693 when the people of Salem capture them for practising witchcraft.

The three witches are brought back to life 300 years later after a sceptic lights the Candle of the Black Flame, seeing the three sisters wreak havoc on the town.

More recently, the original cast reunited for a virtual Halloween party and fundraiser in time for Halloween. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all took part to raise funds for the New York Restoration Project. Trick-or-treating was virtually impossible for many people around the world due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, but the digital event served as the 'hottest pandemic-safe Halloween event of the year'.

The New York Restoration Project was originally set up by Bette Midler to transform open space for communities across the city's five boroughs.
