Disney Is Officially Making A 'Hocus Pocus' Sequel

We couldn't be more excited for this cult classic to get a sequel.

Just in time for Halloween, it has finally been confirmed that a Hocus Pocus sequel is in the making.

Sadly, it will not be ready in time to watch for the spooky holiday this year, but it couldn't be a better time to announce the original spooky film starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy is getting a second movie.

Jen D'Angelo, who served as a writer and co-producer on Workaholics has been hired to write the script for the second film, which will air on Disney Plus, as reported by Collider.

And she's pretty keen to get the OG cast back for round two...

Yep, Collider reports from sources that they're aiming to bring the original Sanderson sisters back, and we're unsurprised, as nobody could play them better, we're sure of it.

It's been 26 years since the film was first released and yet we still can't get the image of Mary swinging that hoover underneath her - the best makeshift broomstick ever.

None of the actresses are currently attached to the project sadly, but fingers crossed Disney can work its magic.

And given that SJP wasn't against coming back for more Sex and the City films, we can't see why she'd be against coming back for more on this project either.

Believe it or not, this film wasn't a hit at the box office on release - but it's popularity has certainly made up for it over the years.

The story is all about three women, the Sanderson sisters, from Salem, who are hung on Halloween for their witchcraft and involvement in children going missing.

But, the head witch, Winnie, has a magical spell book that reveals a prophecy: if a virgin lights the black flame candle in their cottage on Halloween in future years, the witches will be resurrected.

Naturally, they are brought back to life, but are horrified to find themselves alive 300 years later when Halloween has become a playful holiday.

One thing hasn't changed though and that's their disgust for children...

We suggest you give the original Hocus Pocus a watch as it's a classic. Plus, then when the sequel comes around, you'll be ready and raring to watch it.

We aren't yet sure when this will be in production or released, but Tyla has contacted Disney for comment.
