Trisha Paytas has been slammed by fans as 'cruel and selfish' after announcing the unusual name she has chosen for her newborn baby girl.

The YouTube star welcomed her first child with her husband Moses on Wednesday 14 September and despite the online theories, she did not name her after the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Yes, one week before she gave birth to her baby girl, there were rumours that Trisha had gone into labour on the same day as Queen Elizabeth's passing, and that she planned to name her baby girl Elizabeth as a tribute.

But Trisha, who uses she/they pronouns, set the record straight a few days later, when she had officially welcomed her baby girl, and announced the real name she had chosen for her daughter.

Sharing a series of photos with her newborn baby, Trisha wrote: "She has arrived. Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon born 09.14.22 at 8.9lbs and 21 1/2."

While plenty of supporters were thrilled for Trisha, there were some who took issue with the Celebrity Big Brother star's name choice.

"Please tell me you did not actually curse your child with the name Malibu Barbie," replied one follower.

"Malibu Barbie is cruel and selfish. It is an ugly [name] played by the poor baby’s parents. It is NOT a cute name," complained a second.

"Please say sike about her name," begged a third.

"Trisha seems like a good mother and all but Malibu Barbie is gonna grow up to get BULLIED," tweeted a fourth.

But Trisha's fans were quick to defend the name.

One insisted: "Y’all Malibu is a cute name and y’all forgetting she lives in California like pls the kids aren’t gonna bully her cause another kid is gonna be named Sparrow or Leaf or Birch."

Another commented: "Malibu Barbie is a cute name, there. i said it."

And a third asked: "Am I only one who thinks Malibu Barbie ain't even a bad name?"

Before she welcomed baby Malibu Barbie, Trisha made a separate post to Instagram to assure fans that she had not chosen to name her daughter after Queen Elizabeth.

Posting a pic of her baby bump to Instagram, she assured followers: "Well this is awkward... to have to announce that I’m still VERY much pregnant and have NOT given birth.

"I almost felt sad yesterday to tell people this. The internet is a weird place. I don’t know how any of those rumours started or why?"

She continued: "Sorry to the royal family and my baby. Felt weird to say anything at all. But so many people IRL that we know, had been texting and calling about this. Including my dad who felt out of the loop as if I wouldn’t text him when I was going into labor.

"Still don’t know what to say. Other than - I’m still pregnant. And when I do give birth, we will announce it.

"Condolences to the royal family. It’s very disheartening to hear of the Queen’s passing."
