Peter Andre defends 15 year age gap with wife Emily

He's insisted that age doesn't matter when you're in love

Peter Andre has insisted that age doesn’t matter when it comes to love as he and his wife Emily - who is 15 years his junior - are ‘so happy’.

The 'Mysterious Girl' singer, 50, married doctor Emily, 33, back in 2015 and the pair share two children together - a daughter Amelia born in 2014 and son Theo who was born in 2016.

Emily is also step-mum Peter’s two older children Junior and Princess, from his previous marriage to Katie Price.

In his recent column for OK magazine, Peter has shared his views on age gap relationships while addressing recent rumours about Maya Jama and Leonardo DiCaprio.

In case you missed it, Maya and Leo have met up several times, enjoying nights out in London, Paris and New York.

A source told the Sun last month that the pair are ‘in regular contact’ and are ‘seeing how things go’.

However, both Maya and Leon have shut down rumours of a burgeoning relationship.

Despite the fact that the rumours don’t seem to be true, Peter said he reckons the duo would make ‘one hell of a power couple’. Fair point, I have to agree with him there.

Noting their two-decade age gap, he went on: “Although she’s 28, 20 years his junior, you can't help but admit that Leo looks awesome.

“As you all know, Emily and I have been together for nearly 11 years and have known each other for 13 years. Even though she is younger than me, I don’t think age matters as we are so happy together!”

Speaking last year, Peter said he never felt as though there was an age gap between him and Emily and claimed that as the two get older people care less and less about the difference in their ages.

"Age is a different thing to different people,” he wrote in New magazine last year. “On paper things can look a certain way but I think it depends how you are with the person.

"I don't think I've ever felt an age gap between us and when you see us together you wouldn't feel there is."

Opening up about outside opinions on their relationship, he added: "I can't comment on anyone else's age differences, but I know at the start of our relationship a lot was said, but now I'm in my 40s and Emily is in her 30s no one ever says anything."
