Pitch Perfect actress Anna Camp has been forced to publicly defend her new relationship after their age gap sparked backlash online.
The 42-year-old star, who we all know and love in the hit movies as Barden Bella Aubrey Posen, made her red carpet debut with her girlfriend Jade Whipkey, 24, at the Bride Hard premiere in Los Angeles last week.
The couple looked as loved-up as ever as they hit the red carpet together, after initially confirming their romance back in February.
Pink News posted a video of the two to Instagram on Saturday (21 June), and while many of the comments were expressing how happy they were for Anna, others seemingly took issue with the 18-year age gap.

One user wrote: “I’m in my mid 30s and I can’t imagine having the necessary common ground to start a relationship with a 20 year old. What could they possibly have in common?”
Another added: “I don’t know these two but I think too often we overlook age gaps in queer relationships.
“I even think 30 and 22 is a poor match. The brain is very very different in your early 20s and late 20s. The brain isn’t even developed fully until 25/26. Obviously I hope they are the exception!”
Someone else penned: “That kind of age difference in any relationship makes me very uncomfortable.”
Then, to the surprise of everyone in the comments section, Anna herself joined the conversation and explained how Jade is ‘far more mature’ than any men she’s dated, including those who are the same age as her.
The star wrote: “Thought I’d jump on here since I follow @pinknews and just say I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them.
“We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything.”
Rising above the hate, she signed off with: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well :) Especially this Pride month.”
Fans of the True Blood actress also rushed to her defence in the comments, pointing out that they’re both adults and urging people to stop ‘infantilising’ a 24-year-old.
One Instagram user penned: “Confused by these comments infantilising a 24 year old adult. Literally two consenting adults but people want to extrapolate back in time for some reason??”
A second commented: “24 is ADULT age, they are grown ADULTS.”
Meanwhile, another argued: “So 'love is love' until there's an age gap? They're both adults.”
And a fourth hilariously chimed in with: “As a 24 year old I am #definitely open to dating a 42 year old. HELLOOOO LADIES.”
