Maisie Smith shocked as Max George 'proposes' to her on The Chase

Maisie Smith appears to be more than ready to walk down the aisle with boyfriend Max George if their recent appearance on The Chase is anything to go by.

Maisie, 21, and Max, 34, appeared on The Chase Celebrity Special last night (Sunday, 23 April) where they made history by becoming the first couple to take part in the show.

The pair met while taking part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 and went official with their relationship last summer.

However, The Chase host, Bradley Walsh, didn’t seem to have a clue that the pair were dating.

When it was Max’s turn to take on the Chaser, Bradley asked him: "OK, how do you know each other?" and then jumped into ask: "Have you been out together?" before poor Max could had a chance to reply.

As the couple then tried to explain the situation, Max firmly added: "It's sort of going on at the minute."

Which was clearly news to Bradley who replied: "I didn't know. I'm so sorry," much to the delight of the audience, who found the whole thing pretty hilarious.

After establishing that they were couple Bradley quipped: "So erm, when's the big day?"

To which Max jokingly replied: "Funny you mention it, er..." and then pretended to reach for a ring from his pocket.

Keeping up with the joke, Maisie hopped onto her feet and began to dramatically fan herself as though overcome with emotion.

Viewers found the couple’s banter adorable, with one commenting: “Maisie Smith and Max George currently being very cute on The Chase. Love them!”

Another said: “Max looks so proud of Maisie, so sweet.”

While a third wrote: “Max George and Maisie Smith are such a cute couple.”

Someone else said: “Max and Maisie are making this episode.”

The loved-up couple moved in together earlier this year and regularly give an insight into their relationship with sweet social media posts.

Last month Max opened up to The Sun about having a relationship in the public eye.

"We both know how it works,” he said. “Maisie's had it since she was six. We both know it and I've been doing it a long time.

"It's just one of those things. We knew that people were going to write about us and we tried to just keep it under wraps. It was out of our hands, it got taken out of our hands."
