A representative for the couple confirmed the good news to People.

The year has been incredibly busy for the My So-Called Life actress, who starred in two acclaimed series - The Essex Serpent and Fleishman Is In Trouble - the latter will drop on Disney+ UK on 22 February.

She recently received a Golden Globe nomination in the best supporting actress category for her role in the latter as well as a Critics’ Choice Award.

The Golden Globes will take place on Tuesday and fans will see Danes for the first time since announcing her baby news.

Meanwhile, Hugh currently stars in the revival of the original NBC crime series Law & Order, which debuted this year.

Claire and Hugh are known to keep their family life private, however, she did call motherhood ‘amazing’ in an interview with People in 2014.

At the time of the interview Claire starred in the hit drama Homeland and her eldest son was only two years old.

He essentially grew up on set around the cast and crew and as the she prepared to shoot the fifth season, the Primetime Emmy Award winning actress shared how accustomed he had become to being on set.

“He’s the Homeland baby,” she gushed. “I was pregnant with him filming. Third season, he was five months. I have so many photos of him in various stages of development in Carrie Mathison’s chair.”

Hugh was acting in the cult NBC drama Hannibal at the time and both of little Cyrus’ parents had worked continuously since they welcomed him into the world.

When Claire became pregnant with her second child in 2018, she was looking forward to experiencing motherhood again. “Pretty soon I get to retire for a little while and just be pregnant which I look forward to,” she told reporters at a Homeland FYC event. “It feels like a huge luxury. When I was pregnant with my first son, I worked until I was in my eighth month, so this feels like a huge gift, to have a chance to kick my feet up a little bit.”
