Britney Spears responds to criticism over posting nude photos

The singer is known for no longer holding back on social media

Britney Spears frequently gets tongues wagging on Instagram where she has become increasingly partial to posting nude selfies and snaps.

The 'Toxic' singer has not been without her critics over her social media posts - including her own sons - but she appears to have hit back at them with her latest risqué photo set.

Despite being slammed for the pictures, she is continuing to post them anyway and her latest nude snaps were shared earlier this week on 5 October, seemingly in response to the critics.

Britney Spears has often been criticised for what she posts on Instagram.

They featured the singer fully nude on a beach, but she had herself covered with an emoji to make the pictures suitable for the social media platform, which does not allow full nudity.

The images themselves were not captioned, but she did post them alongside a picture of a book titled Visual Voyages.

She followed up this post with another of a quote that read: "If the whole world was blind, how many people would you impress?" - which can be read as a dig to those criticising her.

While Britney did temporarily disable comments on her Instagram, as reported by the Independent, she did allow them for her latest photoset and people had a lot to say.

In particular, they couldn't help but imagine what was going through the minds of the people in the background as Britney posed for the photographs, which features her clasping her breasts and posing completely nude, while kayakers mulled around in the background fully clothed.

Fellow musician Matt Cutshall wrote: "The people in the background will have a story to share for generations to come."

A second added: "Imagine being those random people just nonchalantly hanging out at the beach on a Thursday and Britney Spears is suddenly next to them having a nude photo shoot."

Meanwhile, a third user said that the photoset was proof that Britney was hitting back at her haters.

They wrote: "Britney straight up trolling the haters at this point."

"Her body has been controlled her entire life," remarked a fourth viewer in reference to her now-removed conservatorship. "She has the free will to do whatever she wants now and I'm here for it!!!"

Others, meanwhile, continued to criticise the singer for posting nudes for her 41.9 million followers, with one slamming: "No wonder her teenage boys don’t speak to her."

But some took a more balanced view of the nudes, agreeing that it was her way of hitting back at her haters.

"This is her f**k you to them all," wrote another viewer. "We might not agree but now nobody tells her what to do. None of us could ever imagine the level of control she's been under."

Britney's ex husband Kevin Federline, 44, said that seeing her frequent nudes is 'tough' for him and their two sons, aged 17 and 16.

He told the MailOnline: "I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself'.

"But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them. It's tough. I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."
