Ashley St. Clair rejected $40 million NDA to be in Elon Musk documentary for stark reason
Elon Musk's ex Ashley St. Clair has claimed she was allegedly offered a seven-figure sum to stay silent about her relationship with the billionaire ahead of a new documentary about his life.
And despite the eye-watering amount, St. Clair says there was one thing that ultimately made her turn down the money.
The former conservative influencer is among those speaking out in Musk, the new documentary from Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
The three-hour-plus film explores the bizarre life and controversial career of Musk, from his rise in the tech world to his increasingly prominent role in politics and ownership of X, formerly Twitter.

Gibney began working on the project several years ago, with the documentary first announced in 2023 as an examination of the billionaire’s life and influence.
Musk himself did not participate in the film, but Gibney interviewed a number of people from different parts of his personal and professional life - including St. Clair, with whom he shares a child.
The fact that Gibney reached out for her contribution is perhaps unsurprising given the very public fallout between the pair.
Now, speaking about her involvement with Musk, St. Clair has claimed she was offered the chance to sign an NDA and receive $40 million in return for not speaking about her former flame for the documentary.
But rather than the money convincing her, the offer left her questioning why someone would be willing to pay so much for her silence.
"So, when you're offered something like that, it really causes a debate in your head about what your speech means, how valuable that is, and why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak," she said while appearing alongside Gibney during a panel in Venice.
St. Clair went on to make a pointed comment about Musk’s relationship with the truth.
"He does have complicated relationships generally, but his most complicated relationship is with the truth," she alleged.
Ultimately, however, she said her decision to take part came down to the example she wanted to set for her children.
"Most importantly, I want to set the example for my kids that, you should never take being materially comfortable over speaking the truth," the conservative inluencer insisted.
St. Clair made some pretty extraordinary claims about what Musk allegedly told her during their relationship during her appearance in Musk.
She tells viewers says the Tesla CEO told her in a text message that he wanted to have a child with her because he needed 'a legion of children before the civil war'.
The pair eventually welcomed Romulus, but their relationship later became increasingly strained.
Their romance and subsequent split played out in the public eye amid disputes surrounding their little boy, as well as custody and St. Clair's allegations about her experiences with Musk.
In January, things escalated publicly after St. Clair apologised for her previous comments about the transgender community, saying she felt 'immense guilt' over the possibility that things she had said had caused pain to Musk's transgender daughter, Vivian, whom he shares with his ex-wife.
Musk responded on X, saying he would be 'filing for full custody' of their son because of St. Clair’s comments, claiming they implied she might transition their one-year-old child.
St. Clair has also spoken publicly about sexualised AI images of herself being generated using Grok, the chatbot operated by Musk’s xAI, adding another layer to their increasingly bitter public fallout.
