Ben Affleck's brother Casey confirms dad Timothy passed away this year in emotional admission
Casey Affleck paid tribute to his late mother and father at the Venice Film Festival this week, confirming that he passed away earlier this year.
The actor, 51, who is the brother of Ben Affleck, 54, attended the film festival to promote his new movie Company.
The mystery film, which he directed and co-wrote, debuted on Tuesday (8 September) and will compete for the coveted Golden Lion.
During a press conference, Casey revealed that he dedicated the film to both of his parents who died this year.

Casey and Ben Affleck’s mother, Chris Affleck, died aged 83 on 2 June and the family confirmed her death in July. However, it was not previously known that their father had also died this year. It is unclear when exactly their father, Timothy Affleck, passed away.
Speaking at the press conference, Casey shared: “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mum and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.”
He added: “I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn’t get to. I think they would have liked it.”
Company is the third film directed by Casey. Ben Affleck was also in attendance to support his brother at the premiere of the film.
Company is set during a winter night in 1975 and follows a mysterious woman who arrives uninvited at a holiday gathering where she recalls the story of Tom.
Casey said: “The good thing about being an artiste, the best thing, maybe, is that you can take all of the hardest experiences in your life and put it into your work and it just makes you better. If you’re willing to face it all, be honest about it all and show up vulnerably with those feelings and allow for the fact that you might not be able to really fully understand them, but you’re willing to put them into what you’re making, it’s a blessing. For me, it’s the only way that I can understand what’s happening in my own life.”
Timothy and Chris Affleck divorced when Ben Affleck was around 11or 12 and when Casey was around nine.
Their mother raised them in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while their father moved to California.
The Affleck brothers were photographed together at Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The appearance came nearly a decade after the brothers were last pictured together, at the 2017 Oscars when Casey won the Best Actor award for Manchester by the Sea.
Company stars Nick Nolte, Ben Mendelsohn, Adelaide Clemens, Scoot McNairy and Emily Alyn Lind. Casey’s sons, Indiana Affleck, 22, and Atticus Affleck, 18, also star in the movie.
The proud dad described directing his two sons as the 'best professional experience of my life by far'.
He shared: “I think they grew up around it and had some interest in it and a sort of innate understanding of what it was,” Affleck said of his sons and the entertainment industry. “Like I did, my dad worked in the theatre for many years. And so it’s passed down, I suppose, which is a really nice thing. And they were willing to be a part of this.”
