In the filter-obsessed world we're currently living in, it's always refreshing to see someone take the au naturel route - and this is exactly what one makeup fanatic decided to do.

Of course, it goes without saying that regardless of how much makeup or filters a person may use, everyone is beautiful in their own unique way and what someone decides to do to their appearance is nobody's business but their own.

But for Aussie Venus Turner, a big change to her usual beauty routine ended up being the 'best decision she ever made'.

Venus, a nail technician and content creator from Sydney, is known for her glam TikTok videos and giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her job - and it's safe to say that makeup is a huge part of her life.

However, in a recent TikTok video, Venus decided to strip back the makeup and show fans her natural appearance.

Captioned: "2 different people" along with the on-screen text: "Me after realising thick lashes and heavy makeup wasn't for me", the video shows a snap of Venus with full glam before revealing her bare, makeup-free face.

Venus decided to show off her full glam before revealing a much more au naturel look.

Venus looks undoubtedly incredible in both snaps, but fans just couldn't get over her natural beauty.

One wrote: "My face dropped. You're so pretty omg," while another added: "Imagine waking up and looking that perfect!"

"The no makeup makes your eyes pop more," another pointed out, while someone else said: "Yaasss I'm so tired of the oversized lashes."

One admirer even added: "Best decision you've ever made."

The nail technician has gone for a much more stripped back and minimalistic look.

While TikTok has been seeing trends of much more minimalistic makeup looks as of late, which means chunky lash extensions may be slowly on their way out, it seems as if one TikToker took this lash-less concept to a whole other level.

And believe me when I say this, her beauty hack caused quite the storm online.

This is because the TikToker has started to snip off her bottom lashes with scissors eye-wateringly close to her eyeball.

Carrie Madders, the woman behind the mayhem, claimed that the near-surgical procedure made her eyes look more 'open' and the presence of her bottom lashes appeared to 'close' her eyes and give her an 'unwanted shadow'.

People were mortified by the DIY lash trimming, with one saying: "Girl they’re there to protect your EYEBALLS."

And another said: "Bottom lashes purpose is to avoid dust and dryness."

Well, it turns out this is true as according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology: "Eyelashes prevent irritation and act as human whiskers."

They operate as 'dust catchers' which protect the eye from 'debris that can obstruct vision or cause infection or injury'.

So it may be wise to think twice before you go rushing to the scissors to give yourself a DIY lash makeover.
