Fairy Hair Is The New Trend We're All Obsessed With

There's a dreamy new hair trend popping up all over social media - and we are obsessed.

Say hello to 'fairy hair' - also known as 'hair tinsel'. The glittery strands can be tied into your hair like extensions - and they look so cool.

TikToker @_maermaer - who's a fairy hair regular - explained exactly what goes into the process.

She said: "Mine are tied in, she uses this little tool to get them really tight on a couple strands of hair. I can put heat on them up to 400 degrees, so I blow dry my hair, I curl my hair, I can wash my hair with them in.

"The main thing to be careful of is brushing hair really rough at your roots which you shouldn't do anyway. She said they last about a month but mine have been in all summer. I have around 200 in my hair right now."

The glitter strands usually come in all different colours and they're always mega popular in the run up to Christmas and during the festive period, too. Or for other events including Halloween, or festivals in the summer.

The tinsel is often applied quite close to your scalp, and the knot should be held while you brush to prevent it from moving.

You can buy the glittery extension strands online, but to maximise how long the tinsel hair will last, it's probably best to have a professional fit them for you.
