A new Netflix Christmas flick is being hailed the ‘perfect’ festive rom-com after landing on the streaming site last week.

Watch the trailer for the movie (which features a certain This Is Us star in the lead role!) here:

There’s arguably no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than curling up on the sofa for a snow-dusted love story, and the latest release from Netflix fits the bill wonderfully.

Based on the novel by Richard Paul Evans and starring Justin Hartley and Barrett Doss, The Noel Diary follows a successful author as he returns home for the holidays to settle his estranged mother’s estate.

But as he’s sorting through everything at the house, he is surprised when a mysterious woman arrives – who turns out to be someone who has links to his past.

A synopsis from Netflix says: “Cleaning out his childhood home at Christmas, a novelist (Justin Hartley) meets an intriguing young woman (Barrett Doss) searching for her birth mother.

“Will an old diary unlock their pasts — and hearts?”

As the trailer shows, the movie has it all with twinkly Christmas lights, cute dogs, lots of snow and, of course, romance - all bound together with the nostalgia of our two leads’ past.

The rom-com is in very firm hands, too, as it comes from director Charles Shyer, who is known for feel-good classics like Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap.

The film also stars Barrett Doss.

And after dropping on Netflix last week, it seems viewers are already won over, with many praising it as the ‘perfect’ festive flick.

One tweeted: “The Noel Diary a perfect, 10/10, 5 stars, no notes, classic christmas romcom. it had laughs, it had tears, it had romance, it had infidelity. It had it ALL.”

It was released on Netflix last week.

Someone else said: “The Noel Diary was such a good movie, got me teary eyed & Barrett Doss from station 19 she's so beautiful, & Justin Hartley, I haven't seen him since This Is Us, that is one fine, handsome man he kind of looks like Jensen, the cast of those 2 did amazing job!!”

A third said: "i absolutely LOVED The Noel Diary, the perfect choice to cheer you up, so so beautiful, i can't wait to watch it again on christmas night with my family."

Another added: "The Noel Diary is such a heartwarming treat to watch. Perfect for a winter night.

"Lifts up a sad heart and would bring a smile on your face."
