Sex Education Actor Explains Why She Isn't Returning As Ola For Season 4

Ola will not be back for season four.

Actress Patricia Allison has revealed why she won't be returning as Ola for season four of Netflix's hit series Sex Education.

The beloved TV show, starring Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey was just recently renewed for its fourth season after a wildly successful run.

But it looks like one fan-favourite character will not be showing her face again at Moordale Secondary School. Watch here:

Patricia's character Ola Nyman is the daughter of Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt) - a Swedish handyman who winds up dating and having a baby with Dr Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson).

Ola had a brief romance with Otis (Asa Butterfield) before she realised she's pansexual, and later went on to date Lily (Tanya Reynolds).

And thank goodness her romance with Otis didn't last, because when her dad Jakob moves in with Otis' mum Jean, the pair go from exes to half-brother and sister.

Season three ended with Ola and Lily making up after a brief dispute about role playing, and accepting her new family.

Patricia Allison had been speaking to Capital Xtra when they asked her what she could say about the forthcoming season, and it was up to Patricia to break the news.

Ola had made up with everyone by the end of season three. Good thing, too!

She said: "I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much and playing Ola. But, unfortunately, I won't be joining the team for season four."

The actress apologised for having to break the bad news, but assured listeners that they'd soon be able to catch her in lots of exciting new projects.

"I'm just going to be doing some other little things," she continued. "Some other opportunities have come up. I've been doing it for three years and I've genuinely loved it.

"I have to say goodbye at some time, which is kind of sad. But other things are coming! And that's really exciting."

Needless to say, fans were devastated when they heard the news, and took to Twitter to discuss Patricia's departure from the series.

"Gutted," tweeted one user. "One of the bright characters in this show, PA is as awesome in SE as she is in reality and really brings Ola to life. You will be sadly missed. Best of luck in all your ventures."

Another fan, more dramatically, wrote: "I just dropped to my knees."

"NOT MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER," complained a third.

"WHO the hell will be in season 4?" asked a fourth, referring to the other cast members who may not return.

After starring in the second season of Bridgerton, Simone Ashley has also confirmed that she will no longer appear as Olivia in Sex Education.

Meanwhile, fans are worried that Ncuti Gatwa may not come back as Eric for season four, after the actor was cast as the next Doctor in Doctor Who, taking over from Jodie Whitaker.
