Love Island's Jay Spills The Beans On Antigoni And Jacques Romance Rumours

One of the most talked-about contestants from this year's Love Island was Jacques O'Neill, aka Gemma Owen's ex-boyfriend.

Despite forming a connection with Paige, the rugby player, 23, decided to leave the villa of his own accord, telling Paige Thorne, 24, that he would pick her up from the airport when it's her turn. Watch below:

However, since then, Paige has struck up a romance with returning islander, Adam Collard, 26, with the pair telling each other they have never formed a connection so fast.

This naturally played out before Jacques' eyes on television, so he has allegedly decided to move on from the paramedic himself – and with none of other than another dumped islander!

Namely, bombshell Antigoni Buxton, 26.

The romance rumours began after a night out in Manchester on Wednesday (27 July), where the former islanders were reportedly seen arm-in-arm.

The lid was lifted on their alleged romance by Jay, who famously shook things up in the villa and turned Ekin-Su's head from Davide before their relationship truly blossomed.

However, he has insisted that the alleged romance between Jacques and Antigoni is just that – alleged – and that the pair are simply good friends.

"They're just friends," he told OK! Magazine. "I was on a night out with Antigoni two weekends ago and Jacques FaceTime'd, but it was more of a friendly chat."

He added: "It wasn't like that... They're just pals."

However, after Antigoni posted a snap of herself with Jacques, other fans were quick to comment that they would make a great couple.

One wrote: "Think you should get together.

"Paige has shown she doesn't care and has moved on quick enough!! Do you and be happy."

"I feel like they would make a beautiful couple," added a second with heart-eyes emoji.

 "Totally ship this," remarked a third, while a fourth said: "That should have been the winning couple!!"

However, given that the show hasn't quite come to a close yet, perhaps Antigoni and Jacques' friendship could turn into more over time – after all, he has only been away from Paige for a matter of weeks.

It's worth noting that Jay and Antigoni also expressed an interest in each other while in the Love Island villa, so anything really is possible.

On his departure, Jacques explained that his mental health was suffering and that he 'just wanted to go home' to 'get myself right'.
