Love Island fans have been hit with the realisation that this year's season is almost over, causing many to question the absence of iconic challenges.

This includes the likes of the baby challenge which puts the islanders' parenting skills to the test and the tweet challenge where they discover what the public really thinks of them. The 'Snog, Marry, Pie' challenge also recently sent shockwaves throughout the villa:

But now the show has confirmed that at least one of the iconic challenges will be returning - namely, the baby challenge.

The news was announced by the show's host Laura Whitmore on Aftersun.

Now, on the off chance that this is your first Love Island rodeo, let me elaborate a little on this challenge: the islanders have to care for a fake baby as if it were a real one, and this involves all the usual care including changing its nappy and feeding them.

Reacting to the return of the baby challenge, Love Island fans went wild on social media.

"LAURA JUST CONFIRMED ON LOVE ISLAND: AFTERSUN WE’RE GETTING THE BABY CHALLENGE ON #LoveIsland THIS YEAR!" gushed one fan.

A second screamed: "AHHH THE BABY CHALLENGE IS BACK."

"I can't wait to see ekin su and davide doing the baby challenge [sic]," wrote a third, while a fourth added: "I cannot wait for the baby challenge this year!!!!"

Meanwhile, a fifth speculated about what might happen to Davide and Ekin-Su's baby.

They joked: "Anyways i can't wait for these two in the baby challenge. Either they're going to do great or be total disasters. Probs will use the child as a weight in the gym tbh [sic]."

However, not everyone was so thrilled by the news and some fans said they'd have rather seen the return of the Twitter challenge.

One wrote: "Ok so we get the baby challenge.... But all anyone wants is the TWITTER challenge.... Cmon producers... Deliver!!! [sic]"

A second agreed, writing: "we are getting the BABIES challenge but not the twitter challenge??? [sic]"

One fan concluded that there is only one reason they want to see most of the iconic challenges return.

They wrote: "Yea listen what we actually want is for ekin to do the baby challenge, for the islanders to guess tweets about ekins supremacy and for ekin to get the fairytale date she deserves as a finalist [sic]."

However, while there is no sign of the Twitter challenge returning, it has also been confirmed that this year's season will have a talent show.
