The John Lewis 2021 Christmas Advert Is Here

The John Lewis 2021 Christmas Advert Is Here

Christmas has truly arrived.

John Lewis has just released its 2021 festive advert - which means yes, it is officially Christmas!

You can watch the advert below:

The ad is titled Unexpected Guest and focuses on space traveller Skye (played by Raffiella Chapman) and 14-year-old teen Nathan (played by Jordan A. Nash).

When Skye crash lands in the woods near Nathan's home, he begins introducing her to all the festive traditions - Christmas tunes, mince pies, classic movies and decorating the tree.

Of course, Skye can't stick around for long and the pair eventually have to say goodbye, but not before sharing a kiss on the cheek. As she disappears in her space ship, Nathan can be seen in tears, but as the song plays - they'll "always be together in electric dreams”.

The beautiful soundtrack is a cover of Together In Electric Dreams by Lola Young - originally by The Human League’s Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder.

John Lewis explained the ad is all about togetherness, after so many of us were unable to see loved ones last festive season.

Claire Pointon, customer director at John Lewis, said: “There is nothing more magical than discovering the joy of Christmas for the first time and enjoying your favourite festive moments with loved ones.

“After the last 18 months, we wanted our advert to really celebrate this as we look forward to a brighter future.

“Through the story of Skye and Nathan, we celebrate friendship and are reminded of the joy of experiencing Christmas for the first time.”

Fans of the ad can buy a version of Nathan's jumper, but in efforts to be more sustainable, the retailed version does not light up. It's priced between £14-29 - in women's, men's and children's sizes - and 10 per cent of the profits will go to charities FareShare and Home-Start UK.
