Euphoria star Angus Cloud has discussed the terrifying accident that almost left him for dead when he fell 10 feet into a construction pit.

The actor has become a firm favourite among fans for his portrayal of Fezco, a drug dealer with a sensitive side, on the HBO series.

It’s not only his acting skills that have earned him a loyal fanbase but also his chilled out persona away from the camera, and his penchant for eating Cheetos while front row at New York Fashion week.

But aside from his snack and fashion choices, Cloud has overcome a lot in his 24 years, and recently revealed how he got his infamous head scar.

Speaking to Variety, the TV star went into detail about the 2013 incident that saw him fall into a construction pit and break his skull in his native Oakland, California on Friday the 13th.

"I woke up 12 hours later at the bottom," he said, adding that he had internal bleeding in his skull, blurry vision, and broken fingers. "It was hella hard to climb out, because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn't, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain.

“I was trapped. But they wasn't gonna find me down there. I found myself. Or God found me, whatever you want to call it."

Realising he would have to get himself out of the pit, Cloud said he went into ‘survival mode’ and ‘eventually climbed out’ before taking a bus back to his mother's house.

When he arrived home, the star explained that he struggled to communicate what had happened to him.

Cloud continued: “Because I was a kid! I was 14 or 15. She thought I was on drugs, cause my pupils was hella dilated. I was trying to tell her what happened, but I could only start a sentence – I couldn't finish it. So I was like, ‘I'm just gonna go sleep in my bed’." Fortunately, his mother didn't let me, otherwise: I would have died," as he puts it.

Rather quickly, his mother understood the seriousness of his injuries when he began throwing up ‘mouthfuls of crimson red blood’ and brought him to hospital, where he said doctors ‘saved his life’.

Cloud underwent emergency surgery and shared: “That's what the scar's from. They cut my head open, they put some screws and a plate over where I broke my skull and s**t, sealed me back up, and that was that.”

The American star then spent five days in the ICU before spending additional time in non-intensive care units, undergoing both physical and speech therapy.

Noting how ‘blessed’ he was to have ‘minor brain damage’, Cloud said he still has communication issues as result of the accident, as his speech is 'probably a little bit slower' since and added that he ‘scribble-scrabbles two words together’.
