Body language expert reveals key gesture that signals how Coleen Rooney really feels about Rebekah Vardy after she opens up

Body language expert reveals key gesture that signals how Coleen Rooney really feels about Rebekah Vardy after she opens up

Coleen Rooney lifted the lid on her feud with Rebekah Vardy - otherwise known as the 'Wagatha Christie' case - during last night's episode

It didn't take long for Coleen Rooney to lift the lid on her headline-hitting feud with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy following her I'm A Celeb entrance earlier this week.

That said, however, one human behaviour expert believes the footballer's wife wasn't as confident reflecting on the 'Wagatha Christie' case as she may have seemed, and that one gesture in particular indicates that she still harbours some heartache over the whole charade.

For those in need of a refresher, the pair first butted heads all the way back in 2019, when mum-of-four Coleen began suspecting one of her Instagram followers of selling stories about her personal life to The Sun.

With a sneaky suspicion of who it might be, the Liverpool icon began slowly adding friends to her 'Close Friends' social media stories, all the while uploading fake content about her love life with hubby Wayne to serve as a trap.

Within a matter of days, Coleen discovered that the fabricated content she'd shared with one particular follower had made it to global headlines, revealing 'it's... Rebekah Vardy's account' in a shock exposé.

The years that followed saw the 'frenemies' go head-to-head in a libel trial that Rebekah launched in response to being named and shamed.

And despite Coleen winning, the 'Wagatha Christie' case would leave them squabbling over legal fees right up until today.

This would also see former Vogue cover-girl Coleen discussing the dispute on I'm A Celeb last night.

Asked if she'd originally been scared to expose Rebekah, she told ITV viewers: "No, because I just didn’t think it would have the impact it did, because I was just that sick and tired of it, it was draining."

Coleen went on: "That was my worst nightmare to go to court. I felt like it was like putting on a show for the whole world.

"What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me. No one knew the full story."

Now, body language expert Darren Stanton has assessed Monday night's conversation (18 Nov) - which was prompted by her co-stars - and believes that, even though Coleen doesn't mention Rebekah directly - one gesture signals the 'contempt' she still holds.

Speaking to Tyla on behalf of Spin Genie, he explained: "If you zoom in, you can see the crinkling of the nose, which is a micro expression of how she really feels. The lines on the right hand side of her mouth are contempt for Vardy."

Darren noted, however, that even though she truly believes she was wronged by Rebekah, Coleen finds it difficult to recall the hell she went through at her hands.

"She’s quite forthright and authentic in this moment, and a really open book," he went on.

"She’s saying to someone, this is the situation and the fact she’s stretching out her arm with an open palm means she’s telling it as it is, she’s telling us the truth. There’s a lot of authenticity coming from Coleen."

Darren went on: "In another shot, we’ve got what we’d normally call a steeple gesture, which usually denotes confidence, but here it denotes a level of nervousness.

"She’s almost reliving how she felt at the time. When people wring their hands really tightly, you can see she’s gripping her knuckles very tightly, unconsciously she’s reliving the whole thing and going through a different range of emotions."

He concluded his assessment by re-emphasising how real and relatable he believes the 38-year-old was being in that moment.

"For her, she is constantly authentic in what she’s saying," he continued. "She’s not being defensive and is being open and honest with the audience.

"There was no hesitance or reluctance for her to speak about it, she seemed quite happy to go over the details and the non-verbal gestures supported that assertion.

"She may be fed up with some of the optics of what happened, but she is more than happy to chat about it and set the record straight."
