Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson referred to This Morning host Alison Hammond as his 'wife' on Tuesday.

Alison and co-star Dermot O'Leary sat down to chat with Dwayne during Tuesday's episode of the daytime show, and The Rock kicked the chat off by referring to the Brummie host as his spouse.

Of course, This Morning fans will know that Alison and Dwayne have a long-standing history of flirty banter.

Dwayne famously 'proposed' to Alison during a 2017 interview and the pair 'got married' live on This Morning just a few months later.

During the iconic segment, Alison wore a white dress, complete with veil and bouquet - but sadly the marriage wasn't actually legally binding.

Now, five years on from the ceremony, the pair have been reunited with Dwayne immediately saying greeting his 'ex-wife' as the interview began.

"Good morning to my former, ex-wife Alison, so good to see you," he said.

Alison joked: "Well I wasn't going to mention it to be honest, I just thought I'm not even gonna' go there with that [...] I'm just glad we can talk now."

And at the end of the chat, The Rock gave Alison a special mention, discussing how happy he was for her after her NTA nomination.

"I just wanna say this really quickly, Alison we've known each other for a long time but I'm so happy for you, you're doing so great, nominated for all these National Television Awards, you've been incredible."

Blowing a kiss, Dwayne added: "We’ve got to get married again!"

"And I’m proud of you as well!" Alison responded.

The TV presenter was naturally over the moon with The Rock's words, literally jumping for joy once the interview had finished.

Alison was nominated for an NTA at last week's awards, going up against Ant and Dec, Graham Norton and Bradley Walsh for the award.

Presenting duo Ant and Dec were crowned winners - for the 21st year in a row - but sadly couldn't be there in person to collect their award due to illness.

They explained: "Sadly, it’s true… We even get ill together! After feeling unwell a few days ago we both tested and we’re positive for Covid. We’re resting up at home and are so sorry we can’t be at #NTAs2022. Best of luck everyone and get well soon to anyone else in the same boat x."
