Charlotte Hawkins Trolled For Wearing 'Sainsbury's Uniform' On GMB

The newsreader herself admitted her dress did look remarkably like the supermarket’s uniform.

Charlotte Hawkins has been left red-faced after mean-spirited trolls made fun of her outfit from today's edition of Good Morning Britain.

The 45-year-old newsreader donned a sleek mauve dress with orange and white panelling for the breakfast programme - but viewers were quick to point out the colours reminded them of one particular supermarket.

Luckily, the former Strictly star could see the funny side of her fashion faux-pas, and posted a side-by-side of her wearing the new dress next to a Sainsbury's uniform.

"Thank you for the comments on my dress on GMB this morning," she wrote on Twitter. "But rumours I have a new part-time job at Sainsbury's are unfounded."

And celebrity friends and fans alike couldn't help but get in on the joke.

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker commented: "Can you tell me which aisle the tinned tuna is in?"

Another added: "Driving the van will be a nightmare in those shoes!"

A Sainsbury's worker chipped in jokingly: "Well as someone who works for Sainsbury's, we could do with all the help we can get this time of year!

"The dress looks lovely on you though."

Others were complimentary, with one fan saying: "If the staff in Sainsbury's looked that good I'd be in there every day."

For those who are keen to recreate the look themselves, Charlotte's dress is on sale at Karen Millen for £57, reduced from £95.

And Charlotte is not the only celebrity who has found themselves having a supermarket sense of style.

Earlier this year, mega star Beyonce was at the centre of a meme after the latest collection in her Ivy Park range heavily featured deep burgundy and orange colours.

Sainsbury's themselves spotted the similarities. Posting a picture of their uniform on their Twitter page, the brand joked: "Repping since 1869."

At least you're in good company, Charlotte!
