Man sells 'shopaholic' girlfriend's unworn clothes on Vinted and makes a fortune

She had ‘filled the entire house’ with more than 200 unworn garments

A man who was getting fed up with his ‘shopaholic’ girlfriend’s mountain of unworn clothes has managed to turn his misery into money after flogging the items on Vinted.

Dad-of-six Paul Young said his missus Stacey Whyte ‘filled the entire house’ with more than 200 unworn garments, making him desperate to free up some space.

Young, 43, tackled the vacuum-packed bags of unused clothes that Whyte hadn’t returned by setting up a Vinted account last month.

He used the tagline: “My girlfriend has a spending problem so here are all her excess clothes. Shipping within 24 hours or less.”

Young then spent five hours photographing and uploading listings onto the online marketplace, with many of Whyte’s unwanted goods still brand new with tags.

It didn’t take long for the money to come rolling in, with the couple raking in £300 in just three weeks.

More importantly, however, the drastic measures also gave Young some much-needed space at home.

Thankfully, there are no hard feelings between the couple – who have been together for 12 years – with Whyte admitting she was actually grateful for the help.

Young, from Pudsey, West Yorkshire, said: "Stacey's that much of a shopaholic that she's on first-name basis with our parcel lady. She's constantly buying, it's non-stop.

"We were looking around the house trying to find space for different stuff, and there were just bags and bags of clothes coming out of everywhere.

"There were wardrobes filled with vacuum-packed bags that she doesn't even wear. They were coming out of the eaves of the house, out of the loft, and out of the basement as well.

Paul decided to take action on his partner's growing pile of clothes.

"We were going to take them to the charity shop when people on Facebook suggested I put it all on Vinted to see if I could get some money."

Admin worker Whyte, 43, added: "I'm happy for the help. I work long hours and don't have a lot of time to do it all myself.

"I didn't realise how popular the site was, but the extra money is a big help towards daily bills."

As well as creating some extra income for the couple, the Vinted page has also proven to be something of a viral hit – now boasting 1,700 followers.

After Young shared the page on Facebook, people have even joked that ‘every wife needs a Paul to do their Vinted’.

He said: "I've been on it for just over three weeks and we've already made about £300 off it, I've done about 60 sales.

"All of a sudden the page just went crazy. Every night we were bagging stuff up and sending it out to the Post Office, Evri and all these lockers.

"I was making trips daily to post it all off, people have been buying in bulk as well."
