All relationships have some guidelines, but one woman's core rules for a future boyfriend has divided opinion online.

Watch the video here:

TikTok user @TheFreakShowCircus shared her eight rules which any boyfriend must abide by - and they're not simple.

The video has now racked up more than three million views with many left divided over whether they are controlling or not.

In the clip, the TikTok user sets out why she is sharing her no-nonsense relationship rules, with a focus on Instagram and online behaviour.

She said: "Today, we're doing controversial rules I make my boyfriend follow, Instagram edition because I was telling my guy friends and they called me a psycho bitch.

"Disclaimer: Almost every single one of my boyfriends has followed these rules. So if you're like, "Oh my God, I could never!" It's okay, somebody else will."

Her rules start off with blocking anyone that could be romantically interested or had links with: "Obviously, people you've slept with are a no-no, but if I found out you held a b****'s hand and you're still following her, you're done."

The rules have been labelled as 'controlling' by some viewers.

The rules continued including no following new women, no searching for girls in the Instagram search bar and no liking other girls' photos.

The TikToker explained: "Like, every guy knows girls don't like this. So the fact that you're continuing to do it knowing, internationally, women don't like this is a slap in the face. So, period, point-blank, no!"

Her rules continued: "Number five - No story replying. We all know what story replies mean. We don't have to talk about it.

"Number six - No more than one girl per scroll on your Explore page. I know that your Explore page is what you click on."

The TikTok user explained how she knows this rule works: "And you want to know how I know? Because, one time, I asked a guy to stop and he did. And for the duration of our entire relationship, there wasn't one girl on his Explore page. So I know that the rest of you guys are lying sacks of s***."

Her rules also included unfollowing any girls who publish more than one bikini picture in a row, as she explained: "Like, you should just know. Like, just read my mind."

Her final rule put a ban on any boyfriend using Linktree. She shared: "Like, adult films are free. I can handle giving other people attention, strangers... but your money? You're gonna give other women your money? No!"

The user has been asked for part two of her rules for relationships.

TikTok users have been left divided over the rules, with one user commenting: "People like this are really so insecure."

Another added: "Am I the only one that feels some of these are a bit much".

"Nah if I cant trust him to have female friends online I shouldn’t be in that relationship" said a third.

A fourth explained: "Boundaries are a good thing to have but this is just insanely controlling behavior rooted in insecurity lol trust is important in a relationship".

However, some thought the rules made sense. One user wrote: "My hubby does this without asking".

A second shared: "As long as you are doing this as well then it’s fine," while a third added: "Isn’t this just common sense to some man while in relationship?"
