For years, Eva Oh worked as a strategic consultant in a job that gave her no satisfaction, limited her free time and constricted her finances.
But following a sudden wake-up call 15 years ago, spurred by colleagues ceaselessly branding her overly-assertive and even 'bossy', she turned her attention to the sex industry.
Despite having had no contacts within the X-rated arena, nor a clue of how much cash she'd be taking home each day, Eva jumped straight into BDSM, and is now one of the world's most in-demand dominatrixes.
"A desire to leave corporate slavery," she told LADbible as part of Honesty Box after being asked what triggered the move. "I was working as a strategic consultant. It was my first very big contract.
"And I very quickly understood that I did not belong in a space serving the bottom line. And so now I make them serve me."
By her own admission, she hadn't known about kink culture, especially with regard to its secret popularity.
"I had only heard a joke when somebody said that. Oh, you're so assertive. You should be a dominatrix," US-born Eva recalled. "Actually, they called me bossy, but, you know, and I Googled it when I didn't want to do what I was doing anymore.
"And I found a dungeon, and I jumped in the deep end. And here I am 15 years later. So it worked out."
When the UK-based sex star set off on her new career path, Eva hadn't yet figured out her clientele. As such, she also charged much lower rates than she does nowadays - 'about $70 for half an hour of foot worship'.
Oh had been called 'bossy' by her colleagues (LADbible Stories) "Now it's rich white men because that's who has the money, sadly," she claimed. "But it's okay. I'm taking it away from them.
"For some reason. Lawyers love me. I don't know why, but you get all sorts. C-suite. Um, entrepreneurial types, which I don't love. Too much thinking for themselves."
Eva also revealed how her $1,000-an-hour sessions work.
"So I tend to invest most heavily in offline, in-person sessions," she began. "And let's start from the beginning. Somebody will email me a request asking maybe for my time first, and then also disclosing the fetishes that drive them.
"Perhaps the tone of exchange that they tend to prefer. And then if I think that they pay the deposit fast enough, I accept them into my space, and I curate a session based around their disclosure."
Oh revealed what a session entails (LADbible Stories) She continued: "And what that can look like is taking them through the different kinks, be it bondage, be it anal play, be it foot worship, in a fashion that brings them into my psychology and under my spell, so to speak.
And that can sometimes be very gentle, but often it can be quite elaborate and campy. And I find that cute and something to giggle at."
Eva went on to emphasise that just because she's technically a sex worker, that doesn't necessarily mean that sessions involve intercourse.
"So when I first started, my head mistress of the dungeon asked me if I had done sex work before, and I said, ‘There’s sex in this work?'," she explained.
"Because I had no clue. And there's not usually penetrative sex involved with my work, but I interface with people's sexual desires.
"And so that is sex to me now. So yes, I tend to enjoy using sex to make people do what I want."
