Fans of Meghan Markle have been left disgusted at a 'sick' post comparing her to Princess Diana, as the Duchess of Sussex launched her new brand of wine.

Meghan announced her lifestyle brand As Ever would expand into the wine industry with a press release on July 1, sharing that the first bottle to become available will be 'a light, fresh, and effortlessly celebratory 2023 Napa Valley Rosé, thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex'.

The next wine to be launched will be a 'Méthode Champenoise Napa Valley sparkling wine planned for the near future', with more varietals to follow.

Meghan's new venture has attracted some interest from both fans and detractors, but a vicious post shared on social media platform X went too far, according to some netizens.

A post by an account known as Meghan's Mole, which, as you can guess, often targets Meghan and the Sussex family, posted two images side-by-side of the Duchess of Sussex enjoying a glass of wine, and a picture of the car crash that killed Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed and driver, Henri Paul, on August 31, 1997.

The post attempts to promote a connection between Meghan's wine company and claims that driver Paul was drunk while driving Diana and Dodi, with the caption saying that by drinking Meghan's wine 'you too can feel like you were in a Paris tunnel'.

Redditors were horrified to read the post in a thread discussing the ongoing online abuse levelled against Meghan.

"I literally gasped in shock. What a cruel thing to say," one person stated, while another suggested: "These people thrive on attention, let's not give them any."

They added: "In an ideal world something would be done about her after she got reported but I'm not holding my breath."

Speaking about the anonymous account that posted this abomination specifically, one person noted: "She clearly harbors intense negativity, her tweets about Meghan are deeply inappropriate and disturbing."

"wtf so tasteless," a fourth person wrote. "I was looking up the wine and stumbled upon the stupid snark sub and they are literally psychos and have no lives. She lives rent free in their head."

"Some people are just sooooooo vile," was another comment.

This comes after Meghan came under scrutiny for her 'labour dance' video where she twerks with her husband Prince Harry to speed up the birth of Lilibet.

"By the way, that wasn’t yesterday. That was four years ago," Meghan told Emma Grede on the latest episode of her Aspire podcast at the end of June.

"So it’s also a really great reminder that, with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life. A real, authentic, fun life that’s happening behind the scenes."
