The meaning behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s eldest child’s name has been revealed, and it’s so cute.

The Duchess of Sussex has said that Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet, who she shares with husband Prince Harry, has always thought about the names of their children.

Whether it was the reason behind their surname, which she explained on her lifestyle series titled With Love, Meghan, or their first names, there’s a meaning behind them.

But for Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, now Sussex, his middle name is of particular interest.

You might remember that before he was born, the name Archie was not something the bookmakers were expecting to see.

But it was a name everyone got behind once it was announced.

Although it doesn’t appear to have any royal connections or historical figures to commemorate, his middle name kind of does.

While Archie means to be ‘bold’ or ‘brave’, Harrison’s meaning is the sweetest addition.

It means to be the ‘son of Harry’.

Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty royal magazine told the BBC: "Archie has a British feel to it, whereas Harrison is more of an American name. The first Harrison that springs to mind is Harrison Ford.

"They have wanted to do something a little bit different, and they have done."

Little did you know that even not only are the first and middle names completely down to the wish of the parents in the royal family, but so are the last names.

This is because Harry was previously known as Harry Wales, thanks to his dad previously being the Prince of Wales.

As he and Meghan were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they all took on the Sussex name when they moved to the US.

Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet are little Sussexes, as Meghan said on her show.

While the couple were Sussex’s as soon as their titles were given to them, their kids, Archie and Lilibet, were originally given The late Queen's preference- Mountbatten-Windsor- after their births.

"It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children," Meghan shared. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."

Opening up about her journey in motherhood, Meghan continued: "When your children get to a certain age - when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again - it’s super joyful.

"As a woman, a mom and a wife, to be able to find yourself again - in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older - is a wonderful feeling."

Her lifestyle show features a lot of famous faces including Mindy Kaling, despite her new traditional branding, Meghan doesn't consider herself a 'tradwife'.

"I like being able to do a hybrid," she explained, "but even when I get takeout, I will try to plate it beautifully. The series is about doing what you can do and doing it with love."
