Meghan Markle has revealed her and kids have a new surname as she speaks out on the meaning behind it.

The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex, who shares Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet, with her husband Prince Harry, has opened up about her family life as her brand-new lifestyle series titled With Love, Meghan drops on Netflix today (4 March).

In a recent interview with People, Meghan discussed her creative endeavours, her relationship with Harry, and how they both navigate life as parents in their Montecito home in California.

During the interview, the Suits veteran explained that the Sussex surname - which was bestowed upon her and Harry by the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day back in 2018 - holds a lot of personal significance.

"It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children," Meghan shared. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."

She added that the Sussex name is 'part of our love story'.

Opening up some more about her journey in motherhood, Meghan continued: "When your children get to a certain age - when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again - it’s super joyful.

"As a woman, a mom and a wife, to be able to find yourself again - in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older - is a wonderful feeling."

While her new lifestyle series - which features a number of fellow famous faces including Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Delfina Blaquier, and Roy Choi - evokes ideas of domestic bliss, it's clear Meghan doesn't consider herself a 'tradwife' either.

"I like being able to do a hybrid," she explained, "but even when I get takeout, I will try to plate it beautifully. The series is about doing what you can do and doing it with love."

It's been five years now since Meghan and Harry stepped back from their royal roles in the UK to start a new life in the US with the former commenting on just how much has changed since: "Five years ago Archie was only eight or nine months old, so my life has changed so much.

"Anyone who has children will tell you, it’s a huge evolution as a woman during that time."

Looking forward to the next five or even 10 years, Meghan gushed: "Can you imagine? This is just the beginning. Life is full of surprises!

"And my gosh, in 10 years, Archie will be driving!"

With Love, Meghan is currently available to stream on Netflix.
