Kate Middleton’s new look has been defended by royal fans after backlash online.

The Princess of Wales debuted new locks on 24 August, leaving people divided on whether they preferred her chestnut curls instead.

The 43-year-old royal debuted her new hair in Scotland with her husband William, Prince of Wales, and their children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

It was when they were in a Range Rover, driving to church, that Kate, Princess of Wales, was seen wearing a dark-coloured hat.

Beneath said hat unveiled locks of blonde - a colour we have not seen Kate wear.

Fans who saw the photographs of Kate, were quick to point out that her hair is even more lighter than previously seen at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

But now, a new photo shared by British Vogue proves that she’s lightened her tresses even more and fans don’t know how to feel.

The image’s caption on Instagram reads; “It’s official: the #PrincessOfWales is entering autumn as a blonde. Kate has been subtly going lighter over the past year, but when she arrived for an engagement at the Natural History Museum today with Prince William, her signature chestnut-brown mane was entirely transformed. For some, it was too big of a change and they don’t like it.

One person wrote: “Aunty looked better in darker hair.”

Another said: “Chestnut brown looks lovely on her. Not a fan of the blonde, washes her out.”

Someone else commented: “She looks better with her own hair color. Blonde makes her look older.”

Fans of Kate were not having this slander and were quick to defend her hair and her choices.

One said: “I think her hair is sensational. Each to their own i guess.”

Another wrote: “Beautiful even blonde.”

Someone else commented: “Gorgeousss blonderr.”

Finally, another wrote: “Princess with blonde hair, new phase of her life, new look. She could go more elegant for the occasion. BUT Always beautiful, her smile is the sun of the UK. I love this couple.”

As for why she’s decided to switch things up, an expert has chimed in with their own analysis.

Analysing Kate’s new hairstyle, behavioural and body language expert Darren Stanton said it’s likely marking a new era in Kate’s life.

He said: “When people change their hair in such a dramatic way, it’s all about renewal, confidence, change and evolution.

“This is the most dramatic and significant change she can make on an external basis.”

On behalf of Betfair Slots, the professional continued: “While this would be a small thing in a normal person, she knows that this will go viral globally.

“Internally she’s feeling very powerful, in the best possible way - she’s feeling empowered.”

Darren added that the Princess of Wales’ major appearance change is a demonstration of how ‘confident and empowered' she’s feeling and that she is ‘looking forward to the next chapter’.

“Not just in a personal sense but also in her professional life,” he added.
