Kate Middleton has been defended by royal fans after cruel trolls were convinced they 'spotted issues' with her candid cancer update.
On Wednesday (2 July), the 43-year-old Princess of Wales made a rare public appearance at Colchester Hospital, where many praised just how frank Kate has been regarding her 'post-treatment phase' following chemotherapy.
"You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult," the mother-of-three shared.
Kate, who announced her diagnosis in March 2024 before confirming her remission in January of this year, then made the sad admission that she hasn't been able to 'function normally at home' as she did before she started her cancer treatment.

"You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to," she continued.
"And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable."
Kate, who shares three children; Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, with her husband Prince William, hailed it as 'life-changing' for both the patient and their families.

"You have to find your new normal and that takes time... and it's a rollercoaster, it's not smooth, like you expect it to be," she said. "But the reality is you go through hard times."
Unfortunately for Kate, some people took it upon themselves to call out the princess' comments about not being able to 'function normally at home' - taking issue with the fact that she has staff, money and resources to help her through the journey compared to the average person.

One X user presumed: "But she’ll force herself to attend Wimbledon."

"She can still ski though," remarked a second, while a third jeered: "With 68 staff and counting..."
However, it didn't take long for royal fans to rush to Kate's defence and point out that, no matter how privileged you are, it doesn't change just how arduous and taxing on both the body and the mind cancer recovery can be.
"Her life is forever changed," one user pointed out. "The period of tiredness can last for years. She has a strong support system and that’s so important. We need to respect her privacy and to heal at her own pace."
Another snapped back: "I wasn't aware the number of staff you have can make cancer recovery magically linear. Let us know if it's easier recovery for you with no staff."

"They do not have 68 staff," someone else declared. "Even if they have some staff, does that alleviate the pain from cancer and chemo?"
And a final X user stated: "They have no live in staff and lead a very basic life behind doors. Catherine is on a long journey of recovery give her a break!"
