People are very worried after it was revealed that US President Donald Trump will now attend a 'mysterious' meeting with top military generals.

Generally, when all of the top brass are gathered together, it's usually not a good thing.

That's the fear of many people now that a large meeting has been called, seemingly out of the blue, and Trump will be in attendance.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has called the head honchos to come to a meeting at the Marine Corps Base Quantico on Tuesday.

He has requested that 'all senior officers with the rank of brigadier general or above' must come to the meeting, and there are around 800 admirals and generals in the US military.

One worried citizen asked on X (formerly Twitter): "What is about to go down?"

"Hegseth ordered hundreds of generals and admirals to gather on short notice and without a stated reason... the directive was sent to virtually all of the military’s top commanders worldwide... roughly 800 generals or admirals... what the f*** is happening?" asked another.

Trump has now put people's minds at ease, saying the meeting will be 'very nice'.

“It’s really just a very nice meeting talking about how well we’re doing militarily, talking about being in great shape, talking about a lot of good, positive things. It’s just a good message,” Trump told NBC news.

Military meetings aren't usually described as 'very nice', but that's what he's going with.

“We have some great people coming in, and it’s just an ‘esprit de corps.’ You know the expression ‘esprit de corps?’ That’s all it’s about. We’re talking about what we’re doing, what they’re doing and how we’re doing."

To save you a Google, 'esprit de corps' means 'the common spirit existing in the members of a group and inspiring enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard'.

Essentially, it's a meeting to lift morale and rally the troops.

Trump said of the meeting: “I love it, I mean, I think it’s great, let [Hegseth] be friendly with the generals and admirals from all over the world.”

“You act like this is a bad thing. Isn’t it nice that people are coming from all over the world to be with us?” he said.

White House officials insist Hegseth will be 'upbeat' at the meeting and will be sharing his plans for the newly named Department of War going forward.

The Washington Post says Hegseth intends to instil his 'warrior ethos' at the meeting, while a Trump administration official revealed to the New York Times the meeting will 'get our fighters excited'.

An official told CNN: "It’s about getting the horses into the stable and whipping them into shape, and the guys with the stars on their shoulders make for a better audience from an optics standpoint. This is a showcase for Hegseth to tell them: Get on board, or potentially have your career shortened.”
