Democrats are heaping praise onto presidential candidate Kamala Harris today (31 July) for appearing to throw major shade at ex-electoral opponent Donald Trump.
In recent weeks - alongside a horde of other embarrassing slip-ups, controversial comments and damning denials - the US President has come under fire for the part he has been accused by critics of playing in the cancellation of Stephen Colbert's Late Show earlier this month.
News of the show's fate was confirmed in a statement signed by a group of Paramount and CBS Entertainment executives on 17 July, which claimed the decision had been based on 'finances'.

Suspicions were immediately raised, however, with the announcement having been made just days after Colbert accused Paramount issuing Trump with a 'big fat bribe' in the form of a $16 million (£12m) settlement earlier this year.
The payout is said to have been made in response to the Republican previously accusing CBS (which is part of Paramount) producers of airing an edited version of a 2024 electoral debate with Kamala Harris, in favour of the Democrat.
Responding to the cancellation, Trump claimed he 'absolutely loved' that Colbert was fired, and went on to threaten Jimmy Kimmel as 'next'.

In response, a number of fans of the longstanding talk show spoke out, both in support of the host, and to condemn TV bosses. Kimmel himself even issued a shocking statement online.
And apparently, joining those who've already stood up for Colbert this week, is Harris herself.
According to Deadline, the 60-year-old will return to the show for tonight's episode (31 Jul)y in her first televised interview since she lost out to Trump, 79, in last year's presidential race.
With this in mind, fans are predicting that Kamala will not only speak out about Colbert's controversial sacking, but against Trump's term in the White House so far.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one USER wondered: "This should be interesting, what will she say!?"
Another joked: "Announcing her act 2 of ending Trump tour in 2028."
"Well, that’s going to be a lively conversation tonight," a third wrote.

Several other Kamala fans made predictions about the chaos set to unfold on the live television hit in the next few hours.
"She will be clocking Trump," one guessed of the stepmother-of-two.
"When she drags Trump," another agreed, sharing a meme of the left-leaning politician pressing her finger to her lip in a 'hush' motion.
Another predicted that Kamala's appearance is purposed 'to announce she’s running for president of the United States 2028 to end that joke of a president once and for all'.
