New detail in Melania Trump’s outfit sparks confusion and for once it’s not her hat

Melania Trump's outfit has got people talking again - and this time, it's an accessory other than a hat that's sparked confusion.

The First Lady, 55, and US President Donald Trump, 79, touched back down in Washington DC late last night, following their two-day state visit to the UK.

They enjoyed a brief but busy stay at Windsor Castle, spending time with King Charles III and Queen Camilla, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Trump and Melania's trip was jam-packed with everything from a lavish white-tie banquet to a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

And now, the American couple have returned to the US, with footage and photographs showing the moment they departed Air Force One.

The Republican leader was donning his usual navy blue suit, complete with a red tie, while Melania opted for white trousers and brown blazer.

However, it's the unexpected accessory on her face that's caught people's attention - a large pair of sunglasses.

We know that the First Lady is a fan of an oversized accessory - take the giant purple hat she wore on the first day of the UK state visit as an example - and she is often seen sporting large sunnies.

But, social media users don't understand why she would need them on when it's pitch black outside at night.

In fact, people have been left so baffled by the fashion choice that it's reignited the internet's favourite conspiracy theory - that Melania has a body double.

Yes, that's right, some people firmly believe that Trump hires a 'body double' of Melania for some public appearances.

Wearing large sunglasses to hide her face and changes in physical appearance and mannerisms are just some of the reasons the ‘fake Melania’ conspirators have pulled together as their reasonings.

And now, people are once again convinced that this is the case, due to her choice to wear the sunglasses in the dark - and the large purple hat earlier this week probably didn't help either.

Reacting to the video, one Twitter user defiantly penned: "Not sure that’s the real Melania. Sun glasses at night?"

While a second joked: "Hiding behind sunglasses at night without a lampshade while holding "tiny hands" - that must have taken some negotiating!"

And a third penned: "Fake Melania. Nobody wears sunglasses at night. She's too short, doesn't even walk like Melania."

"It’s night time, yet Melania Trump is wearing sunglasses. During her visit to the UK, she also sported unusually large hats that obscured much of her face," wrote another.

While someone else agreed: "Melania's body language says it all! And what’s with those sunglasses? She could have worn the purple hat!"

Others penned: "Why do you need sunglasses on at night, Melania? I understand if you're a performer under stage lights" and "Fake Melania. She's wearing sunglasses. At night. Real Melania wears hats and never holds his hand."
