When it comes to First Lady Melania Trump, there's one conspiracy theory that follows her around like a tenacious pomeranian that can smell sausages.
The US first lady has been accompanying her husband, Donald Trump, on his second state visit to the UK this week.
Or has she really? At least, so the conspiracy theory goes.
That's because many speculate that Melania is actually not there at all, and that a body double has been subbed in for her.

A popular rationale for the conspiracy is that Melania and Donald are not on the best of terms, as she often appears to be less than enthusiastic about being seen with her husband in public.
And one thing on this trip has once again reignited the body double rumours...

This is the absolutely massive hat that the first lady has been sporting during the visit.

The unique garment covers a large part of Melania's face, to the point that only her mouth is visible, or none of her face at all, which would be handy if there was a body double.
Taking to social media, one person wrote: "Are we sure it’s Melania and not her double? She did smile."
Others were quick to jump on the bandwagon, with one declaring: "It’s the fake Melania", while another said flatly: "It’s not Melania?"
Needless to say, there is no actual concrete evidence to suggest that Melania Trump has been replaced by a body double on her official engagements with Trump.

Nonetheless, that hasn't stopped the rumour from continuing to spread.
It's become so stubborn and prevalent that Trump has even taken it upon himself to address the rumour directly, calling it 'fake news'.

Trump and Melania are currently on their second state visit to the UK, a highly unusual occurrence as most presidents only have one state visit.

The US president has spent time with the Royal Family as well as senior UK politicians.
Most of the events have taken place in private to avoid protesters who are trying to make their displeasure at Trump's presence in the UK felt.
Among them are four people who have been arrested after a film showing Trump with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was projected onto Windsor Castle.
Police confirmed that the protesters, who are understood to be affiliated with the British activist group Led by Donkeys, were arrested on suspicion of malicious communications.

The group has slammed the arrests as a 'ridiculous overreaction', saying: “No laws are broken, nobody’s hurt, no property was damaged, and yet – look at the reaction."
