Following years of brutal conflict in the Middle East, Donald Trump has addressed the possibility of the US supporting Israel in its latest attacks on Iran with a rather unnerving statement.
Since 2023, Israel has launched attacks on Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, outside of its war for control of Gaza.
Over the weekend, it launched a full scale missile attack on Iran, however, after which the latter began firing its own missiles back, several of which breached the country’s Iron Dome defences in the capital Tel Aviv.

Despite seemingly having leaned towards Israel's favour throughout these crises, the US president refused to involve himself directly in the possibility of global warfare until this week, having previously occupied himself with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Following his appearance at the G7 Summit this week, however, the Republican shocked spectators by publicly considering the possibility of assassinating the Supreme Leader of Tehran, claiming his patience was 'wearing thin'.
Calling for the Iranian Supreme Leader's 'unconditional surrender', he wrote on Truth Social yesterday (18 Jun): "We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding.

"He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now."
Hours later, Iranian officials issued Trump with a stern warning following his controversial statement.
Iran's foreign minister told Al Jazeera: "Any American intervention would be a recipe for an all-out war in the region."
Much to the horror of many Americans, however, the 79-year-old president has further still hinted at the possibility of siding with Israel in war.

During a conference on the lawn of the White House, he was asked by reporters about his potential involvement - questions that he attempted to dismiss.
"I can't say that," he said in a somewhat ambiguous statement. "I may do it, I may not do it.
"Nobody knows what I want to do. But I can say this: Iran's got a lot of trouble and wants to negotiate."

Naturally, American citizens have been left concerned by Trump's statement, which could arguably be interpreted as a hint at the possibility of World War III.
"He thinks this is some cool guessing game," one social media user noted after a clip of the interview was shared online.
Another hit out: "Americans need to stage an intervention and remove this guy. You can't do this to the rest of the world. We would never forgive you for electing Trump."
"He’s basically taking credit for the attack. This man is out of his mind," a third claimed.
