Italian prime minister's 'secret gesture' reveals her true feelings on Trump after her reaction to him walking into room sparks divide

The ongoing 2025 G7 Summit has sparked a vast plethora of viral memes, but seemingly none more controversial than Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni appearing to react to her American counterpart Donald Trump's entrance.

Now, a body language expert has chimed in on the online debate, claiming an elusive signal the Italian gave indicates exactly how she feels about the US president.

Trump and Meloni have been joined by leaders from the UK, France, Germany and Japan in Kananaskis, Alberta this week for the annual conference.

The group were tasked with tackling subjects like economic and geopolitical issues affecting the wider world, as well as ongoing warfare.

It was during one of those important meetings, however, that Italian representative Meloni seemed to react to Macron pointing out that Trump had just walked in.

In a clip that quickly began doing the rounds online, the French leader can be seen leaning in towards the Italian and covering his mouth with his fist, whilst the summit's camera then pans to Trump.

Meloni then appears to be listening intently to Macron's comments before turning to him with her eyes wide. She then appears to smirk whilst picking up her pen, leaning away from the Frenchman before rolling her eyes.

It had been thought by many that Meloni's reaction was in response to Trump's entry, after one social media shared the clip with the caption: "This is the moment when Macron tells Meloni that the local [clown face emoji] entered the global room.

"The face of the Italian Prime Minister says it all."

Laughing in agreement, another wrote: "I love her expressions!"

Now, a human behaviour expert has since assessed the footage of Meloni's supposed attitude problem, believing it's absolutely directed at the Republican.

Speaking to press, body language analyst Inbaal Honigman claimed there's a subtle hint that indicates the Italian has been left 'bored' by Trump's involvement in the conferences - and it isn't the eye-roll.

Apparently, Meloni's 'right hand playing with her pen' indicates that she's over the whole situation, with the expert telling the Express: "Then, Macron whispers something in her ear.

"Meloni raises her eyebrows, opens her eyes wide and stares at him momentarily, which shows surprise, even disbelief. And then, we see a barely concealed eye roll."

Having her say on the rest of the Italian's behaviour, Honigman added that her 'slouching' towards Macron during such a formal get-together could be seen as 'quite disrespectful'.

"The eye roll may suggest boredom and disrespect, both of which she has shown just beforehand," she continued.

"Eye rolling would also indicate contempt. The Italian prime minister's facial expression is scornful and fed up."

A number of social media users, however, made the point that Meloni's eye-roll could actually be directed at Macron, being that, like Trump, she is widely considered a right-wing politician.

She even led the right-wing to far-right party Brothers of Italy for some time, prior to taking the PM position.

Pointing this out, one MAGA fan wrote online: "Ironically, Meloni is probably more fond of Trump, than she is of Macron."

Another added: "And yet, she’s more likely to agree with Trump on policy than Europe. Making something out of nothing. Typical."

Responding to the clip, a third alleged: "Nonsense, she is a Trump supporter."

Tyla has contacted Meloni's office for comment.
