Italian Prime Minister's reaction to Donald Trump walking into room leaves people seriously divided

Giorgia Meloni, Italy's PM, could be seen talking closely with French President, Emmanuel Macron

Social media users are claiming that the Italian Prime Minister was caught issuing a damning reaction to Donald Trump walking into a G7 Summit meeting.

A number of political conferences will take place in Albany, Canada this week, with leaders from the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, India, Australia, and Brazil coming together.

The group meet annually to discuss global economic and geopolitical issues, as well as ongoing warfare.

Representing Italy at the roster of meetings is Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni - the first woman to hold the position in the country - whilst Emmanuel Macron will represent France as its President.

But a controversial clip of the pair has been doing the rounds online in recent hours, which critics claim shows Meloni reacting to Macron pointing out that US President, Donald Trump, had just walked in.

In the video, the French leader can be seen leaning in towards his Italian counterpart and covering his mouth with his fist.

The summit's camera then pans to Trump, 79, walking in.

Italian leader Meloni can then be heard listening intently before suddenly turning to Macron, eyes wide. The 48-year-old then appears to smirk before leaning away and rolling her eyes at the Frenchman's cryptic comment.

Sharing the clip, one social media user shared the caption: "This is the moment when Macron tells Meloni that the local [clown face emoji] entered the global room.

"The face of the Italian Prime Minister says it all."

Laughing in agreement, another wrote: "I love her expressions!"

"When the smelly kid in class that no one likes comes in," a third jibed of the Republican.

Another journalist attempted to confirm that Meloni's eye-roll was aimed at Trump, writing in the comments: "Well, I spoke to her team and know the insights. The face is correct."

The clip has divided others, however, with many pointing out that Meloni could actually be directing her sassy attitude in Macron's direction, being that she's considered a right-wing politician, like Trump.

The Italian previously led the right-wing to far-right party Brothers of Italy, with her current stint in power being a centre-right coalition.

"Ironically, Meloni is probably more fond of Trump, than she is of Macron," one MAGA fan penned online.

Another added: "And yet, she’s more likely to agree with trump on policy than Europe. Making something out of nothing. Typical."

Responding to the clip, a third claimed: "Nonsense, she is a Trump supporter."

Another added, 'She hates macron', whilst a fourth went on to say: "BS. She hates Macron."
