Donald Trump has doubled down on his earlier comments slamming those who want more information on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal in a statement to the press on Tuesday (15 July).

Last week, the 79-year-old American president hit out at a reporter who asked a series of questions about the Epstein files during a cabinet meeting.

The journalist asked whether the sex offender ever worked for an intelligence agency and why there was a ‘missing minute from the jailhouse tape’.

Trump then raged back: “Could I just interrupt for a second?

“Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years. We have Texas, we have this, we have all these things…”

He added: “Are people still talking about this guy? This creep? That is unbelievable.

“I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this, when we’re having some of the greatest success and also tragedy with what happened in Texas. It just seems like a desecration, but you go ahead.”

And it seems like he’s not backing down on the matter, now speaking on it again, calling it ‘boring’ and maintaining the stance that he doesn’t understand the interest in the case.

He scathingly said that only ‘pretty bad people’ want to keep the conversation going as he spoke to reporters in Maryland following his trip to Pittsburgh.

In a clip shared by C-Span, a reporter asked Trump: "I know you've urged people to move on but I'm curious, why do you think your supporters in particular have been so interested in the Epstein story?"

The political leader said: “I don't understand why they would be interested. He's been dead for a long time. I don't understand what the interest or the fascination is, I really don't. And the credible information has been given."

He continued: "I don't understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It's pretty boring stuff.”

Trump added: “It's sordid, but it's boring. And I don't understand why it keeps going. I think, really, only pretty bad people, including 'fake news,' want to keep something like that going.

"But credible information, let them give it, anything that's credible, I would say let them have it."

For those not familiar with the Epstein, case, the 66-year-old was found dead by suicide in his New York prison cell on 10 August 2019 as he awaited his trial on sex trafficking charges without the chance of bail.

However, his passing sparked a number of worldwide conspiracy theories including that he kept hold of a list of clients who he blackmailed for influence.

People have also questioned the legitimacy of whether he really died by suicide or whether he was actually killed to prevent him from giving evidence that might incriminate famous people.

However, an investigation into all of this by the Justice Department and FBI has since confirmed that neither of these theories are true as they revealed the CCTV footage from his prison cell on the day he died.

According to The Mirror, a poll by the Democracy Institute revealed the shocking statistic that around 67 percent of MAGA supporters who voted for Trump in the election disagree with his decision not to release the supposed client list.

Reacting to a video of Trump’s new moments on Twitter, one user wrote: “If he means this, he needs to explain why.”

Another penned: “He just called his supporters pretty bad people, while, do you guys think they'' be ok with that?”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Guess I’m a pretty bad person who voted for DJT. What a loser he’s turning out to be.”
