Donald Trump has broken his silence on the Jeffrey Epstein emails that directly mention him with a blistering rant on Truth Social.

For those who aren't up to speed, the US President, 79, has found himself in the middle of the ongoing scandal after new information, in the form of emails, were released to the public by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee yesterday (12 November).

Three email exchanges were disclosed, which are dated between 2011 and 2019 between convicted paedophile Epstein, his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and author Michael Wolff.

Epstein, who died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges, wrote in one email that Trump 'spent hours' at his house with a victim of sex trafficking and said in a separate message years later that he 'knew about the girls'.

The emails add to the questions about the Republican leader's friendship with the sex offender and about any knowledge he may have had in what prosecutors call a yearslong effort by Epstein to exploit underage girls.

The Republican president has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein’s alleged crimes and has said he ended their relationship years ago.

Trump and Epstein were in a similar social circle during the early 2000s and were seemingly friends for a number of years before Epstein's crimes were unearthed.

It's also important to note that Trump himself did not send or receive any of the emails and has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

What was President Trump's response to being mentioned in the emails?

However, as we say, he issued a fiery response on social media yesterday, not long after the emails were unveiled, hitting out the Democrats and accusing them of using them to 'deflect from their failures'.

Trump penned on Truth Social: "The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects.

"Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk - and they should pay a fair price."

He added: "There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!"

Writing in a later post: "In other words, the Democrats are using the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax to try and deflect from their massive failures, in particular, their most recent one - THE SHUTDOWN!"

Has the White House responded to the emails?

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has also issued a statement in response to the report.

She told LADbible Group: "The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.

"The 'unnamed victim' referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and 'couldn’t have been friendlier' to her in their limited interactions."

The statement continued: "The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre.

"These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax and clear distraction from the government opening back up again."

What exactly did the emails say?

One email allegedly written by Epstein and sent to Wolff, read: "Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever...of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop."

Another from April 2011 reads: "I want you to realise that the dog that hasn’t barked is Trump...[VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him...he has never once been mentioned."

In December 2015, Wolff allegedly penned: "I think you should let him hang himself. If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you valuable PR and political currency.

"You can hang him in a way that potentially benefits you - or, if it looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt.

"Of course, it’s possible that, when asked, he’ll say Jeffrey is a great guy who’s gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which would be outlawed in a Trump regime."
