Donald Trump has once again taken aim at Barack Obama, just days after he sparked backlash by posting an AI video of the Democrat.

For those not up to speed, the American President, 79, left social media users in shock on Sunday (20 July) when he shared a baffled video of Obama, created using artificial intelligence.

The fake clip in question depicts former president Barack Obama being arrested and thrown in jail, which of course, sparked backlash online.

It was created using real footage of the two politicians meeting at the White House back in November 2016 when Trump was president-elect and Obama was about to leave the office.

Overlaid with none other than The Village People's 'YMCA', the AI clip goes on to depict Obama being led away to a federal prison, wearing an orange jumpsuit.

As the video has blown up, X (formerly Twitter) users have expressed worry that older people may think it’s real, with others have slammed it as ‘embarrassing’ and ‘wild’ from the US President.

And now, Trump has taken things a step further by calling on the real-life US Justice Department to prosecute Obama.

In the Oval Office today (Tuesday 22 July), he accused the former American President of treason, for allegedly ordering an assessment that Russia interfered to help him with the 2016 election.

Referring to documents released on Friday (18 July) by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Trump stated: “Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people”.

The new documents allege that Obama and his national security Cabinet members manufactured intelligence regarding Russian interference to 'lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Trump'.

Elaborating, Goddard said in an X post: “Their goal was to usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people.

“No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.

“We are turning over all documents to the DOJ for criminal referral.”

And now, hitting out at Obama, as per the New York Post, he said today: “It would be President Obama, he started it.

“And [Joe] Biden was there with him, and [James] Comey was there, and [James] Clapper - the whole group was there, and [John] Brennan.”

“The leader of the gang was President Obama … He’s guilty.”

Continuing with his attack, he added: “This was treason, this was every word you could think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election.”

The new dramatic claims come as Trump is trying to move on from his administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, which has been criticised by some of his own supporters.
