A woman who went viral this week for 'stealing' a home run ball from a young boy has been given a chance to redeem herself - and there's a huge wad of cash involved.

For those who are somehow unfamiliar with the infamous moment, it occurred during Saturday's (6 September) baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins.

Shocking footage, which was recorded from multiple angles during the sports game, showed the ball fly into the crowd after an impressive home run by centre-fielder Harrison Bader.

After the ball was sent towards the stands, a middle-aged father who was later identified as Drew Feltwell, was seen rushing to an empty row to catch the ball for his nine-year-old son.

He then made his way back to his seat after securing the goods, placing the ball excitedly in his son's glove, who looked equally elated by their luck.

However, the moment quickly took a turn as a woman who was seated a few rows behind rushed over to them to demand the ball be given to her.

She claimed that it was heading straight to her, and that he'd wrongly intercepted it by running to the empty row.

The awkward confrontation went on for a few moments, while Feltwell's young son watched on, before the dad eventually gave in and handed the woman the ball.

She could be heard in a clip of the moment, shouting: "No, you took it from me! You took it from me! That was in my hands. That was in my hands."

Once the ball was handed to her, the woman marched back to her seat, while brutally being booed by fans in the stadium, and eventually deciding to leave.

But the backlash didn't end there as the interaction was caught on video and shared on social media by multiple people and has since made its way around the world.

Sports fans wrote online: "Very well done! Shame on that fan for her arrogance and selfishness," and "She still needs to give it back and apologise."

While a third penned: "The kid was happy with just getting a baseball and she had to make it all about herself and cause a scene. Glad the Phillies and Marlins stepped up and handled this with class."

The fan is referencing the fact that the little one did manage to bag some free Phillies goodies as well as meet Bader personally, who gifted him the an autographed bat and spent time chatting with him.

And now, the woman has been offered a huge monetary reward herself - but, there's quite a big catch.

Blowout Cards, a major trading card retailer in the US, has said it will pay the woman a whopping $5,000 if she returns the ball.

But, that's not all, she will also have to personally inscribe it with the words: "I’m sorry."

Explaining the specifics of their offer on their website, they wrote: "We'll offer $5,000 for that baseball right here, right now ... but there is a catch.

"We want that ball signed and inscribed by her - and only her, whoever she is - 'I'm sorry' so we can simply give it back to the kid. Our offer is official and the offer is firm."

The company has since shared their idea on Twitter and asked people to share it so they can make it happen.

So now, I guess we eagerly wait and see if she comes forward!
